Vacuum energy induced by an impenetrable flux tube of finite radius

We consider the effect of the magnetic field background in the form of a tube of the finite transverse size on the vacuum of the quantized charged massive scalar field which is subject to the Dirichlet boundary condition at the edge of the tube. The vacuum energy is induced, being periodic in the value of the magnetic flux enclosed in the tube. Our previous study in J. Phys. A: Vol.43, 175401 (2010) is extended to the case of smaller radius of the tube and larger distances from it. The dependence of the vacuum energy density on the distance from the tube and on the coupling to the space-time curvature scalar is comprehensively analyzed.Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures, journal version, abstract extended. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:0911.287

Heralded gate search with genetic algorithms for quantum computation

In this paper we present genetic algorithms based search technique for the linear optics schemes, performing two-qubit quantum gates. We successfully applied this technique for finding heralded two-qubit gates and obtained the new schemes with performance parameters equal to the best currently known. The new simple metrics is introduced which enables comparison of schemes with different heralding mechanisms. The scheme performance degradation is discussed for the cases when detectors in the heralding part of the scheme are not photon-number-resolving. We propose a procedure for overcoming this drawback which allows us to restore the reliable heralding signal even with not-photon-number-resolving detectors

In order to investigate the life quality of 404 sarcoidosis patients and 404 tuberculosis patients questionnaires of NAIF и SGRQ were used, the technique of V.A. Kopanev was used to evaluate the adaptive state of the host. It was found out that sarcoidosis patients manifested bigger number of adaptive reactions of the host from balanced pathology circle and chronic stress circle compared to tuberculosis patients who demonstrated reactions from normal functioning circle. Prevalence of adaptive reactions from acute stress circle in both groups showed the depth of the effect of forming granulomatous lesions on the patient's host and it was reflected in the life quality studies demonstrating the obvious reduction in the life quality of both sarcoidosis and tuberculosis patients. However express method of NAIF demonstrated the reduction of average integral life quality indicator in sarcoidosis patients due to social and sexual components. Life quality assessment method of NAIF, reflecting finer rates of the host functioning allowed evaluating the quality of rehabilitation programmes when used for monitoring of changes

404 sarcoidosis and 404 tuberculosis patients were examined in order to detect correlations between clinical manifestations, psychological adaptation and accentuation of personality traits and granulomatous lesions of respiratory organs in case of sarcoidosis and tuberculosis. All patients had subjective and objective examinations and answered the following questionnaires: Schmieschek questionnaire to identify accentuation of personality traits, clinical questionnaire to detect and evaluate neurotic disorders, Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale to detect the level of anxiety. It has been found out that sarcoidosis patients are characterized both by asymptomatic course of the disease as well as diverse clinical manifestations: pain syndrome, nodal fever, intoxication with expressed general fatigue, respiratory insufficiency. It is combined with stuck, pedant, cycloid, exalted, emotive accentuations of personality traits, with psychological maladaptation as per the scores of autonomic imbalance, neurotic depression, asthenia, with average high level of anxiety. The following is typical of tuberculosis patients: syndrome of bronchial tree lesions and respiratory insufficiency; distymny, demonstrative, excitable, exalted, anxiety-hypochondriac accentuations of personality traits, with psychological maladaptation as per the scores of autonomic imbalance, obsessive-phobic disorders and hysteria; average high level of anxiety. The strong correlation has been found between the degree of symptoms expression, level of anxiety and psychological maladaptation and the type of patient's accentuation of personality traits

Interactions of a j=1j=1 boson in the 2(2j+1)2(2j+1) component theory

The amplitudes for boson-boson and fermion-boson interactions are calculated in the second order of perturbation theory in the Lobachevsky space. An essential ingredient of the used model is the Weinberg's 2(2j+1)2(2j+1) component formalism for describing a particle of spin jj, recently developed substantially. The boson-boson amplitude is then compared with the two-fermion amplitude obtained long ago by Skachkov on the ground of the hamiltonian formulation of quantum field theory on the mass hyperboloid, p02p2=M2p_0^2 -{\bf p}^2=M^2, proposed by Kadyshevsky. The parametrization of the amplitudes by means of the momentum transfer in the Lobachevsky space leads to same spin structures in the expressions of TT matrices for the fermion and the boson cases. However, certain differences are found. Possible physical applications are discussed.Comment: REVTeX 3.0 file. 12pp. Substantially revised version of IFUNAM preprints FT-93-24, FT-93-3

Summary. To identify phenotypes of sarcoidosis, we statistically analyzed followup data of a cohort of sarcoidosis patients (n = 400) diagnosed from 1992 to 2010 in Kursk city. We used cluster analysis (the method of Kmeans) and logistic regression analysis. Five phenotypes were identified: 1) males 18 to 35 years of age; 2) males 36 to 60 years of age; 3) females 18 to 35 years of age; 4) females 36 to 60 years of age; 5) patients of ≥ 61 years old. Males 18 to 35 years of age, especially obese, were more susceptible to development of extrathoracic lesions and relapses compared to males of 36 to 60 years old.Females 18 to 35 years of age were characterized by generally good prognosis compared to those of 36 to 60 years old; the latter had higher probability of relapse, extrathoracic lesions, development of extended residual changes and respiratory failure. Patients older 61 years had bet ter prognosis. Therefore, patients with the 1st and the 3rd phenotypes need longterm followup with periodical consultations of specialists and prob ably early start of treatment due to the fact that subtle extrathoracic disease could be fatal.
