Constructing Cooking Ontology for Live Streams

    Get PDF
We build a cooking domain knowledge by using an ontology schema that reflects natural language processing and enhances ontology instances with semantic query. Our research helps audiences to better understand live streaming, especially when they just switch to a show. The practical contribution of our research is to use cooking ontology, so we may map clips of cooking live stream video and instructions of recipes. The architecture of our study presents three sections: ontology construction, ontology enhancement, and mapping cooking video to cooking ontology. Also, our preliminary evaluations consist of three hierarchies—nodes, ordered-pairs, and 3-tuples—that we use to referee (1) ontology enhancement performance for our first experiment evaluation and (2) the accuracy ratio of mapping between video clips and cooking ontology for our second experiment evaluation. Our results indicate that ontology enhancement is effective and heightens accuracy ratios on matching pairs with cooking ontology and video clips

Insertion of the Mirena Intrauterine System for Treatment of Adenomyosis-Associated Menorrhagia: A Novel Method

    Get PDF
SummaryObjectiveInsertion of the levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system Mirena is difficult in women with adenomyosis, and the device is often subsequently expelled. We used a novel insertion technique (Yang's method) to overcome this problem.Materials and MethodsThis retrospective study enrolled 273 patients with adenomyosis who were receiving Mirena for treatment of menorrhagia and/or dysmenorrhea between 2001 and 2008. Clinical outcomes and expulsion rates were compared between patients treated using conventional insertion and those treated using Yang's insertion methods.ResultsExpulsion occurred in 25.3% of patients with the conventional method, compared with 10.2% of patients with Yang's method. Hemoglobin levels and dysmenorrhea improved greatly in both groups after Mirena insertion.ConclusionYang's insertion method for levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system is more reliable in some difficult cases, such as patients with severe adenomyosis. This method ensures correct positioning, thus reducing the risks of uterine perforation and/or expulsion

Automating the audit of electronic invoices with a soft robot

Taiwan's Chi Mei Medical Center has completed four challenges mentioned in published robotic process automation (RPA) studies including automating a dynamic process, designing feasible human-robot collaboration, incorporating other emerging technologies, and bringing positive business impacts. Its executives called a committee to implement the electronic invoicing. This implementation includes the creation of a software robot to download automatically cloud electronic invoice (E-invoice) data from Taiwan's E-invoice platform and detect the inconsistency between them and on-premise data. This bot operates when internal auditors are off their office. They satisfied this software robot since the remaining work is only verifying the resulting inconsistency. The Chi Mei Medical Center measured the time and costs before and after adopting software robots to audit E-invoice; consequently, it welcomed more bots automating other business processes. In conclusion, integrating a software robot with other emerging technologies mitigates the possible errors provided by this bot. A good human-robot collaboration relies on the consideration of human perspective in choosing RPA tasks. Free bot creators are sufficient to verify that automating a business process using a bot is a reasonable investment.Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures, 1 tabl

Crystallization of Adenylylsulfate Reductase from Desulfovibrio gigas: A Strategy Based on Controlled Protein Oligomerization

Adenylylsulfate reductase (adenosine 5′-phosphosulfate reductase, APS reductase or APSR, E.C.1.8.99.2) catalyzes the conversion of APS to sulfite in dissimilatory sulfate reduction. APSR was isolated and purified directly from massive anaerobically grown Desulfovibrio gigas, a strict anaerobe, for structure and function investigation. Oligomerization of APSR to form dimers–α_2β_2, tetramers–α_4β_4, hexamers–α_6β_6, and larger oligomers was observed during purification of the protein. Dynamic light scattering and ultracentrifugation revealed that the addition of adenosine monophosphate (AMP) or adenosine 5′-phosphosulfate (APS) disrupts the oligomerization, indicating that AMP or APS binding to the APSR dissociates the inactive hexamers into functional dimers. Treatment of APSR with β-mercaptoethanol decreased the enzyme size from a hexamer to a dimer, probably by disrupting the disulfide Cys156—Cys162 toward the C-terminus of the β-subunit. Alignment of the APSR sequences from D. gigas and A. fulgidus revealed the largest differences in this region of the β-subunit, with the D. gigas APSR containing 16 additional amino acids with the Cys156—Cys162 disulfide. Studies in a pH gradient showed that the diameter of the APSR decreased progressively with acidic pH. To crystallize the APSR for structure determination, we optimized conditions to generate a homogeneous and stable form of APSR by combining dynamic light scattering, ultracentrifugation, and electron paramagnetic resonance methods to analyze the various oligomeric states of the enzyme in varied environments

Simulation of 2D Free-surface Potential Flows Using a Robust Local Polynomial Collocation Method

Abstract In this paper a mesh-free numerical model for simulating 2D free-surface potential flows is established. A Lagrangian time-marching scheme is chosen for the boundary conditions of the moving and deforming free surface while a local polynomial collocation method is applied for solving the Laplace equation at each time step. The collocation method is developed in a way that the governing equation is satisfied on boundaries as well as boundary conditions. At any free surface node, this gives accurate estimation of the derivatives of velocity potential, which represent components of the velocity vector at that specific node. Therefore, trajectories of the free surface nodes can be predicted precisely. The numerical model is applied to the simulation of free surface waves in the liquid sloshing of a swaying tank. Present model is verified by comparing the numerical results with experimental data. Fairly good agreements are observed
