This study aims to proposed a conceptual framework to systematically explore the activities and elements related to cloud computing/services adoption in business. The research framework is found useful for understanding the context of cloud computing and services and the preliminary findings are helpful to further explore the related activities and relationships behind on cloud computing/services adoption in business

    Structural phase transition and its critical dynamics from holography

    We introduce a gravitational lattice theory defined in an AdS3_3 black hole background that provides a holographic dual description of the linear-to-zigzag structural phase transition, characterized by the spontaneous breaking of parity symmetry observed in, e.g., confined Coulomb crystals. The transition from the high-symmetry linear phase to the broken-symmetry doubly-degenerate zigzag phase can be driven by quenching the coupling between adjacent sites through the critical point. An analysis of the equilibrium correlation length and relaxation time reveals mean-field critical exponents. We explore the nonequilibrium phase transition dynamics leading to kink formation. The kink density obeys universal scaling laws in the limit of slow quenches, described by the Kibble-Zurek mechanism (KZM), and at fast quenches, characterized by a universal breakdown of the KZM.Comment: 10 pages, 11 figure

    Representation and measurement of the beam health based on one-dimensional model

    This paper proposes a method for online structural health evaluation, and analyzes the correlation between online monitoring data and structural health status. On the basis of this analysis, the structural health can be evaluated by using the deviation of the current status from the initially designed status. The health degree index, representation and measurement models are also defined for structural health evaluation in this work. A numerical case study is conducted to validate the related concept and health evaluation model using a beam under pressure loads. The results indicate that the proposed method can effectively represent the structural health status

    A comprehensive working state monitoring method for power battery packs considering state of balance and aging correction.

    A comprehensive working state monitoring method is proposed to protect the power lithium-ion battery packs, implying accurate estimation effect but using minimal time demand of self-learning treatment. A novel state of charge estimation model is conducted by using the improved unscented Kalman filtering method, in which the state of balance and aging process correction is considered, guaranteeing the powered battery supply reliability effectively. In order to realize the equilibrium state evaluation among the internal battery cells, the numerical description and evaluation is putting forward, in which the improved variation coefficient is introduced into the iterative calculation process. The intermittent measurement and real-time calibration calculation process is applied to characterize the capacity change of the battery pack towards the cycling maintenance number, according to which the aging process impact correction can be investigated. This approach is different to the traditional methods by considering the multi-input parameters with real-time correction, in which every calculation step is investigated to realize the working state estimation by using the synthesis algorithm. The state of charge estimation error is 1.83%, providing the technical support for the reliable power supply application of the lithium-ion battery packs

    Association of TNF-α gene with spontaneous deep intracerebral hemorrhage in the Taiwan population: a case control study

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Genetic factors may play a role in susceptibility to spontaneous deep intracerebral hemorrhage (SDICH). Previous studies have shown that <it>TNF-α </it>gene variation was associated with risks of subarachnoid hemorrhage in multiple ethnicities. The present case-control study tested the hypothesis that genetic variations of the <it>TNF-α </it>gene may affect the risk of Taiwanese SDICH. We examined the association of SDICH risks with four single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within the <it>TNF-α </it>gene promoter, namely T-1031C, C-863A, C-857T, and G-308A.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Genotyping was determined by PCR-based restriction and electrophoresis assay for 260 SDICH patients and 368 controls. Associations were tested by logistic regression or general linear models with adjusting for multiple covariables in each gender group, and then in combined. Multiplicative terms of gender and each of the four SNPs were applied to detect the interaction effects on SDICH risks. To account for the multiple testing, permutation testing of 1,000 replicates was performed for empirical estimates.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>In an additive model, SDICH risks were positively associated with the minor alleles -1031C and -308A in men (OR = 1.9, 95% CI 1.1 to 3.4, p = 0.03 and OR = 2.6, 95% CI 1.3 to 5.3, p = 0.005, respectively) but inversely associated with -863A in females (OR = 0.5, 95% CI 0.2 to 0.9, p = 0.03). There were significant interaction effects between gender and SNP on SDICH risks regarding SNPs T-1031C, C-863A, and G-308A (p = 0.005, 0.005, and 0.007, respectively). Hemorrhage size was inversely associated with -857T in males (p = 0.04).</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>In the Taiwan population, the associations of genetic variations in the <it>TNF-α </it>gene promoter with SDICH risks are gender-dependent.</p
