    Multi-keyword multi-click advertisement option contracts for sponsored search

    In sponsored search, advertisement (abbreviated ad) slots are usually sold by a search engine to an advertiser through an auction mechanism in which advertisers bid on keywords. In theory, auction mechanisms have many desirable economic properties. However, keyword auctions have a number of limitations including: the uncertainty in payment prices for advertisers; the volatility in the search engine's revenue; and the weak loyalty between advertiser and search engine. In this paper we propose a special ad option that alleviates these problems. In our proposal, an advertiser can purchase an option from a search engine in advance by paying an upfront fee, known as the option price. He then has the right, but no obligation, to purchase among the pre-specified set of keywords at the fixed cost-per-clicks (CPCs) for a specified number of clicks in a specified period of time. The proposed option is closely related to a special exotic option in finance that contains multiple underlying assets (multi-keyword) and is also multi-exercisable (multi-click). This novel structure has many benefits: advertisers can have reduced uncertainty in advertising; the search engine can improve the advertisers' loyalty as well as obtain a stable and increased expected revenue over time. Since the proposed ad option can be implemented in conjunction with the existing keyword auctions, the option price and corresponding fixed CPCs must be set such that there is no arbitrage between the two markets. Option pricing methods are discussed and our experimental results validate the development.     Retardation Terms in The One-Gluon Exchange Potential

    It is pointed out that the retardation terms given in the original Fermi-Breit potential vanish in the center of mass frame. The retarded one-gluon exchange potential is rederived in this paper from the three-dimensional one-gluon exchange kernel which appears in the exact three-dimensional relativistic equation for quark-antiquark bound states. The retardation part of the potential given in the approximation of order p2/m2p^2/m^2 is shown to be different from those derived in the previous literature. This part is off-shell and does no longer vanish in the center of mass frame

    Generalized μ−τ\mu-\tau reflection symmetry and leptonic CP violation

    We propose a generalized μ−τ\mu-\tau reflection symmetry to constrain the lepton flavor mixing parameters. We obtain a new correlation between the atmospheric mixing angle θ23\theta_{23} and the "Dirac" CP violation phase δCP\delta_{\rm CP}. Only in a specific limit our proposed CP transformation reduces to standard μ−τ\mu-\tau reflection, for which θ23\theta_{23} and δCP\delta_{CP} are both maximal. The "Majorana" phases are predicted to lie at their CP-conserving values with important implications for the neutrinoless double beta decay rates. We also study the phenomenological implications of our scheme for present and future neutrino oscillation experiments including T2K, NOν\nuA and DUNE.Comment: 14 pages, 9 figures, latex, Final version to appear in Physics Letters

    Closed expression of the interaction kernel in the Bethe-Salpeter equation for quark-antiquark bound states

    The interaction kernel in the Bethe-Salpeter equation for quark-antiquark bound states is derived from the Bethe-Salpeter equations satisfied by the quark-antiquark four-point Green's function. The latter equations are established based on the equations of motion obeyed by the quark and antiquark propagators, the four-point Green's function and some other kinds of Green's functions which follow directly from the QCD generating functional. The B-S kernel derived is given an exact and explicit expression which contains only a few types of Green's functions. This expression is not only convenient for perturbative calculations, but also suitable for nonperturbative investigations.Comment: 27 pages,no figure

    Resolution and sensitivity of a Fabry-Perot interferometer with a photon-number-resolving detector

    With photon-number resolving detectors, we show compression of interference fringes with increasing photon numbers for a Fabry-Perot interferometer. This feature provides a higher precision in determining the position of the interference maxima compared to a classical detection strategy.     Doping evoluton of antiferromagnetic order and structural distortion in LaFeAsO1−x_{1-x}Fx_x

    We use neutron scattering to study the structural distortion and antiferromagnetic (AFM) order in LaFeAsO1−x_{1-x}Fx_{x} as the system is doped with fluorine (F) to induce superconductivity. In the undoped state, LaFeAsO exhibits a structural distortion, changing the symmetry from tetragonal (space group P4/nmmP4/nmm) to orthorhombic (space group CmmaCmma) at 155 K, and then followed by an AFM order at 137 K. Doping the system with F gradually decreases the structural distortion temperature, but suppresses the long range AFM order before the emergence of superconductivity. Therefore, while superconductivity in these Fe oxypnictides can survive in either the tetragonal or the orthorhombic crystal structure, it competes directly with static AFM order.Comment: reference update
