Dogme 95 : un mouvement ambigu, entre idéalisme et pragmatisme, ironie et sérieux, engagement et opportunisme

En mars 1995, Lars von Trier et Thomas Vinterberg créent le collectif Dogme 95 auquel se rallieront deux autres cinéastes danois, Søren Kragh-Jacobsen et Kristian Levring. Envisagé comme un « acte de sauvetage », le mouvement entend, selon ses propres termes « s’opposer à “certaines tendances” du cinéma actuel ». Si la majorité des commentateurs français l’ont considéré comme un canular sans conséquences, voire comme un simple coup marketing, il apparaît en réalité comme un phénomène complexe aux motivations et enjeux multiples et à l’impact certain. Suivant une démarche beaucoup plus réfléchie qu’il n’y paraît, Dogme 95 a su affirmer une véritable position distinctive dans le champ cinématographique. Cet article revient sur la genèse et le développement du Dogme, avant d’analyser son positionnement théorique à partir de son double texte fondateur (le manifeste Dogme 95 et le « Vœu de Chasteté »).In March 2005, Lars Von Trier and Thomas Vintenberg created the collective named Dogme 95, which was later joined by two other Danish film directors, Soren Kragh-Jacobsen and Kristian Levring. Regarded as a “rescue operation”, the movement wanted, according to its own statement, “to counter ‘certain tendencies’ in the cinema today.” Even though a majority of French critics considered it to be a hoax of no importance, or a media stunt, it is actually a complex phenomenon with multiple motives and stakes that had some impact. Through a well thought-out approach, Dogme 95 succeeded in asserting a distinct position in the cinematic sphere. This article examines how Dogme 95 came into being and developed, then focuses attention on its theoretical grounding, using two founding texts (the Dogme 95 Manifesto and the “Vow of Chastity.”

Toucher/cadrer, toucher/monter : des interfaces haptiques pour un spectateur « amplifié » ?

Se présentant le plus souvent comme interfaces haptiques, les derniers écrans mobiles (tablettes, terminaux hybrides, smartphones) engagent une relation inédite entre un spectateur devenu « utilisateur » et un objet audiovisuel désormais manipulable. En valorisant l’« expérience utilisateur » comme modalité essentielle de l’expérience esthétique, ces supports numériques dessinent à l’évidence un nouveau régime de la représentation et de la réception : une esthétique, ou pour être plus juste, une esthésique relationnelle et expérientielle où le spectateur-utilisateur devient le « vecteur de l’écriture filmique ». À partir de deux exemples récents, nous proposons d’examiner ici les enjeux esthétiques et narratifs de ces nouvelles formes audiovisuelles qui se déploient à partir du toucher du spectateur-utilisateur. La main s’offre alors comme un prolongement presque « immédiat » —  au sens littéral : sans intermédiaire, sans médiation — de l’interface-surface que constitue l’écran tactile

Des pocket films aux plateformes web contributives : les (re)médiations numériques du récit de soi

Sous l'impulsion du web 2.0 et des technologies numériques mobiles se sont développées de nouvelles « écritures de soi » qui, non seulement favorisent l'expression individuelle et l'expression collective, mais bousculent également les frontières entre réel et fiction. High Resolution Crystal Structures of the Wild Type and Cys-55 right-arrow Ser and Cys-59 right-arrow Ser Variants of the Thioredoxin-like [2Fe-2S] Ferredoxin from Aquifex aeolicus

The [2Fe-2S] ferredoxin (Fd4) from Aquifex aeolicus adopts a thioredoxin-like polypeptide fold that is distinct from other [2Fe-2S] ferredoxins. Crystal structures of the Cys-55 right-arrow Ser (C55S) and Cys-59 right-arrow Ser (C59S) variants of this protein have been determined to 1.25 Å and 1.05 Å resolution, respectively, whereas the resolution of the wild type (WT) has been extended to 1.5 Å. The improved WT structure provides a detailed description of the [2Fe-2S] cluster, including two features that have not been noted previously in any [2Fe-2S] cluster-containing protein, namely, pronounced distortions in the cysteine coordination to the cluster and a Calpha -H-Sgamma hydrogen bond between cluster ligands Cys-55 and Cys-9. These features may contribute to the unusual electronic and magnetic properties of the [2Fe-2S] clusters in WT and variants of this ferredoxin. The structures of the two variants of Fd4, in which single cysteine ligands to the [2Fe-2S] cluster are replaced by serine, establish the metric details of serine-ligated Fe-S active sites with unprecedented accuracy. Both the cluster and its surrounding protein matrix change in subtle ways to accommodate this ligand substitution, particularly in terms of distortions of the Fe2S2 inorganic core from planarity and displacements of the polypeptide chain. These high resolution structures illustrate how the interactions between polypeptide chains and Fe-S active sites reflect combinations of flexibility and rigidity on the part of both partners; these themes are also evident in more complex systems, as exemplified by changes associated with serine ligation of the nitrogenase P cluster

Epithelialization of hydrogels achieved by amine functionalization and co-culture with stromal cells

The aim of this study was to develop a hydrogel which would be suitable for corneal cell re-epithelialization when used as a corneal implant. To achieve this, a series of hydrogels were functionalized with primary amines by post-polymerization reactions between amine compounds and glycidyl ether groups attached to the hydrogels. We report a strong correlation between the structure of the amine and the viability of stromal cells and epithelial cells cultured on these hydrogels. Subsequent co-culture of epithelial and stromal cells on the amine modified hydrogels allowed successful expansion of epithelial cells on surfaces functionalized with alkyl α–ω diamines with carbon chain lengths of between 3 and 6. Analysis of variance showed that corneal epithelial cells had a strong preference for surfaces functionalized by the reaction of excess 1,3 diaminopropane with units of glycidyl methacrylate compared to the reaction products of other amines (ammonia; 1,2-diaminoethane; 1,4-diaminobutane or 1,6-diaminohexane). We suggest this approach of amine functionalization combined with stromal/epithelial co-culture offers a promising new approach to achieving a secure corneal epithelium. Keywords: Epithelial cell
