    Simulation Modeling and Analysis of Air Force Depot Engine Repair During Normal and Increased Operational Tempos

    Maintaining an adequate level of aircraft availability through Agile Combat Support (ACS) is crucial for the Air Force to perform its mission. During normal day to day operations, demands for depot repair including spare parts and maintenance man-hours typically fall within a range supportable with current assets and capabilities. However, with increased flying operations during a conflict, demand at the depot level may likely exceed current capacity for timely support, resulting in backorders for spares and increased turnaround times. This thesis develops a discrete event simulation of the F-16 engine repair network to investigate the impact on engine availability (a major driver of aircraft availability) from three key factors: the spare engine modules inventory levels, the induction rate of failed modules, and the repair turnaround time for the engine modules. Our baseline simulation captures the F-16 engine repair network at a top level for normal day to day operations. We then insert a range of increases in operational tempo in our simulation and analyze the effects on the engine repair network. Incorporating different policies for replenishing depleted spares levels from increased demands allows us to explore the responsiveness of industrial base output in maintaining aircraft engine availability

Jean belonged to the Anakara Clan and lived in a village called Vatomasina in the Antemoro region (in the valley of the Matatàña River). The original author of the material is unknown. The material was photographed between 1983 and 1990. The material was written on paper school notebooks. While the exact content of material is unknown, it is believed to contain guidance for charms, divination, and healing through prayers, geomancy, and astrology

    Lentiviral Vectors and Protocols for Creation of Stable hESC Lines for Fluorescent Tracking and Drug Resistance Selection of Cardiomyocytes

    Developmental, physiological and tissue engineering studies critical to the development of successful myocardial regeneration therapies require new ways to effectively visualize and isolate large numbers of fluorescently labeled, functional cardiomyocytes.Here we describe methods for the clonal expansion of engineered hESCs and make available a suite of lentiviral vectors for that combine Blasticidin, Neomycin and Puromycin resistance based drug selection of pure populations of stem cells and cardiomyocytes with ubiquitous or lineage-specific promoters that direct expression of fluorescent proteins to visualize and track cardiomyocytes and their progenitors. The phospho-glycerate kinase (PGK) promoter was used to ubiquitously direct expression of histone-2B fused eGFP and mCherry proteins to the nucleus to monitor DNA content and enable tracking of cell migration and lineage. Vectors with T/Brachyury and alpha-myosin heavy chain (alphaMHC) promoters targeted fluorescent or drug-resistance proteins to early mesoderm and cardiomyocytes. The drug selection protocol yielded 96% pure cardiomyocytes that could be cultured for over 4 months. Puromycin-selected cardiomyocytes exhibited a gene expression profile similar to that of adult human cardiomyocytes and generated force and action potentials consistent with normal fetal cardiomyocytes, documenting these parameters in hESC-derived cardiomyocytes and validating that the selected cells retained normal differentiation and function.The protocols, vectors and gene expression data comprise tools to enhance cardiomyocyte production for large-scale applications

    Assessment of Habitats According to Groyne Types (Using Pale Chub)

    A groyne zone formed by installing groynes functions as habitat or shelter for aquatic organisms during a flood. Since flow characteristics over a groyne zone are affected directly by groynes, understanding flow patterns due to shapes and types of groynes is of importance for designing groynes. In order to use groynes as an eco-friendly river structure, the ecological effects should also be considered at the design stage. In Korea, the ecological effects of groynes have rarely been examined or included for the actual design. In this study, a set of experiments were carried out to investigate flow pattern changes depending on different types of groynes. Based on the flow characteristics in the groyne zone, the scales of habitats and shelters by the groyne types were estimated. In addition, to test the applicability of a habitat evaluation model to the ecological design of groynes, River2D was used for a virtual river. For assessment of the groyne’s function of ecological habitat, the suitability index of a habitat for pale chub, one of the popular fishes in Korea, was used and the habitat areas by the groyne types were analyzed. The flow changes depending on the groyne types simulated by River2D show the applicability for the simulation of an ecological habitat to the groyne design
