    Study of Bβ†’K(βˆ—)β„“+β„“βˆ’B\to K^{(*)} \ell^+\ell^- Decays in the Family Non-universal Zβ€²Z' Models

    In a combined investigation of the Bβ†’K(βˆ—)β„“+β„“βˆ’B\to K^{(*)}\ell^+\ell^- decays, constraints on the related couplings in family non-universal Zβ€²Z^{\prime} models are derived. We find that within the allowed parameter space, the recently observed forward-backward asymmetry in the Bβ†’Kβˆ—β„“+β„“βˆ’B\to K^*\ell^+\ell^- decay can be explained, by flipping the signs of the Wilson coefficients C9effC_9^{\rm eff} and C10C_{10}. With the obtained constraints, we also calculate the branching ratio of the Bsβ†’ΞΌ+ΞΌβˆ’B_s\to\mu^+\mu^- decay.     Short-period solar cycle signals in the ionosphere observed by FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC

    We analyze 2 years of the FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC GPS radio occultation data to study the response of the Earth's ionosphere to the solar rotation (27-day) induced solar flux variations. Here we report electron density variations in the ionosphere (∼100–500 km) associated with the 27-day solar cycle. The peak-to-peak variation in electron density at low latitudes in the F2 region is about ∼10^4–10^5 electrons cm^(βˆ’3) or 20–40%, and can be as high as 60% depending on altitude, latitude, and season. The half and double periods of the 27-day are also observed at an amplitude comparable to that of the 27-day. The results place useful constraints for modeling chemical and dynamical processes in the ionosphere

    The correlation between tic disorders and allergic conditions in children: AΒ systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies

    AimTo evaluate the correlation between tic disorders and allergies and to inform strategies for the treatment and prevention of tic disorders.MethodsWe conducted online searches of the MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane, CNKI, CBM, WanFang, and VIP Information databases. Case-control studies and cohort studies related to tic disorders and allergic conditions were searched. Two researchers screened the literature, extracted data, and evaluated quality in strict accordance with the predetermined retrieval strategy and inclusion criteria. Finally, RevMan 5.4 software was used to conduct a meta-analysis. We used the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations (GRADE) approach to rating the certainty of evidence about each allergy outcome as high, moderate, low, or very low.ResultsWe obtained seven eligible studies involving eight allergic conditions. The following allergic conditions were significantly associated with the presence of a tic disorder: asthma (OR = 1.90, 95% CI = 1.57–2.30, P < 0.001), allergic rhinitis (OR = 2.61, 95% CI = 1.90–3.57, P < 0.001), allergic conjunctivitis (OR = 3.65, 95% CI = 1.53–8,67, P = 0.003), eczema (OR = 3.87, 95% CI = 2.24–6.67, P < 0.001) and food allergy (OR = 2.79, 95% CI = 1.56–4.99, P < 0.001). There was no significant correlation between atopic dermatitis, urticaria, drug allergy, and tic disorder.ConclusionThe occurrence of tic disorders may be associated with the presence of certain allergic disorders.     Simulation of upper tropospheric COβ‚‚ from chemistry and transport models

    The California Institute of Technology/Jet Propulsion Laboratory two-dimensional (2-D), three-dimensional (3-D) GEOS-Chem, and 3-D MOZART-2 chemistry and transport models (CTMs), driven respectively by NCEP2, GEOS-4, and NCEP1 reanalysis data, have been used to simulate upper tropospheric CO2 from 2000 to 2004. Model results of CO2 mixing ratios agree well with monthly mean aircraft observations at altitudes between 8 and 13 km (Matsueda et al., 2002) in the tropics. The upper tropospheric CO2 seasonal cycle phases are well captured by the CTMs. Model results have smaller seasonal cycle amplitudes in the Southern Hemisphere compared with those in the Northern Hemisphere, which are consistent with the aircraft data. Some discrepancies are evident between the model and aircraft data in the midlatitudes, where models tend to underestimate the amplitude of CO2 seasonal cycle. Comparison of the simulated vertical profiles of CO2 between the different models reveals that the convection in the 3-D models is likely too weak in boreal winter and spring. Model sensitivity studies suggest that convection mass flux is important for the correct simulation of upper tropospheric CO2

    Refined Qing-Kai-Ling (QKL), a modified Chinese medicine, consists of three main ingredients (Baicalin, Jasminoidin and Desoxycholic acid), plays a synergistic effect on the treatment of the acute stage of ischemic stroke. However, the rules of the combination and synergism are still unknown. Based on the ischemic stroke mice model, all different kinds of combination of Baicalin, Jasminoidin, and Desoxycholic acid were investigated by the methods of neurological examination, microarray, and genomics analysis. As a result, it confirmed that the combination of three drugs offered a better therapeutical effect on ischemic stroke than monotherapy of each drug. Additionally, we used Ingenuity pathway Analysis (IPA) and principal component analysis (PCA) to extract the dominant information of expression changes in 373 ischemia-related genes. The results suggested that 5 principal components (PC1-5) could account for more than 95% energy in the gene data. Moreover, 3 clusters (PC1, PC2+PC5, and PC3+PC4) were addressed with cluster analysis. Furthermore, we matched PCs on the drug-target networks, the findings demonstrated that Baicalin related with PC1 that played the leading role in the combination; Jasminoidin related with PC2+PC5 that played a compensatory role; while Desoxycholic acid had the least performance alone which could relate with PC3+PC4 that played a compatible role. These manifestations were accorded with the principle of herbal formulae of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), emperor-minister-adjuvant-courier. In conclusion, we firstly provided scientific evidence to the classic theory of TCM formulae, an initiating holistic viewpoint of combination therapy of TCM.
