    A Contingency Model of Knowledge Creation

    Knowledge management (KM) has been recognized as one of the most important issues for sustaining competitive advantage. In order to achieve KM effectively, past research argued that it is important to facilitate and leverage knowledge assets. However, few studies examine knowledge processes and enablers that may influence the accumulation of knowledge assets. To fill this gap, drawing on dynamic capabilities perspective and absorptive capacity theory (ACAP), this paper develops a contingency model that interconnects the aforementioned KM factors. In order to test the feasibility of the research model, we conducted an empirical study. This study employed a survey instrument, which collected data from 1000 respondents from organizations in computer industry, finance, transportation and service, manufacturing, construction, electronics, trade, and academic institution. A total of 303 usable responses were analyzed. The major contributions of this research are: (1) develop a KM framework that identifies the impact of knowledge-creating processes on knowledge assets; (2) specify the moderating effect of task characteristics on the relationship mentioned in item (1).     An Empirical Study of Collective Continuance Intention on Virtual Community Page of Social Network Site

    Web 2.0 sociable technologies (such as social network sites, SNS) create new online interpersonal collaboration and communication. Particularly, given the proliferation of virtual community page (VCP, ex. Facebook fan page and group) participation, the sustainability of VCP has been recognized as a critical issue. While existing studies have started to address this issue through classical individual-based models to investigate the use of SNS, some argued that individual approach may not be appropriate view point to explain “social” action. To fill this void, drawing on collective intention perspective, this study develops a model that investigates the relationship between organizational citizenship behaviours (OCBs), social loafing, group cohesion, and collective continuance intention on VCP of SNS. Based on 139 Facebook VCP users, we confirm our hypotheses that group cohesion positively affects OCBs which in turn influences collective continuance intention on VCP. Our research model broadens our knowledge about collective continuance intention on VCP of SNS

    An Economy-wide Analysis of Impacts of WTO Tiered Formula for Tariff Reduction on Taiwan

    In this study we use Taiwan as a case study to provide an economy-wide analysis of impacts on Taiwan of WTO tariff reduction schemes with different combinations of thresholds and reduction rates. The model we utilized in this study is Taiwan General Equilibrium Model with a WTO module (TAIGEM-WTO, hereafter) that is a multi-sectoral computable general equilibrium (CGE) model of the Taiwan's economy derived from Australian ORANI model (Dixon, Parmenter, Sutton and Vincent, 1982). Simulation results show that results are more sensitive to the scheme of tariff-reduction (i.e., Category 1, 2, and 3) than the tiered levels (i.e., A, B, C, and D) and as a strategy we should pay more attention to the arguments related to the amounts of tariff-reduction. Moreover, changes in nominal average tariff rates are more sensitive and shocks to the economy are more severe when we change the tariff reduction categories rather than the tiered levels. This conclusion also applies to the tiered reduction case when only sensitive products are considered. Finally, simulations with sector's bound rate calculated using arithmetic means have bigger effects than those using import values as weights.     The occurrence of security incidents will not only cause substantial loss to the enterprise but also serious damage to goodwill. An enterprise has to formulate and implement effective security policies to reduce the occurrence of security incidents. However, the process of promoting the security policy will put stress on employees. The focus of this paper is whether these pressures will affect staff\u27s compliance with the security policies based on the protection motivation theory. This study uses a survey method and 324 responses are collected. The results show that security task stress and security job stress have a significant impact on the formation of security role stress.     Concept and Feasibility of One-Embedded System Payload Including Baseband Communication

    Traditional approach of payload design develops modules separately such as control, compression and communication. Due to increasing demand of shorter development cycles and lower cost, we shall develop a highly adaptive approach for payload implementation so that we can update it in a short time according to the need of a new mission. Besides, the optimization of payload performance and communication link together becomes possible. Based on these, we propose a “one-embedded system” payload approach. All the control, file management, processing such as compression, and communications are implemented in one built-in embedded system. In other words, after the sensor signal is converted as digital data (after ADC, analog-to-digital-converter), the data gets into the proposed embedded system. And the system “does everything” and then outputs data to DAC (digital-to-analog-converter) and then transmitted it in analog form. The proposed embedded system includes a FPGA implementing a processor IP. Due to the programmable characteristic of FPGA, hardware interfaces can be adjusted quickly according to various mission requirements. Besides, because of the flexibility and adaptability of software, code can be updated to optimize performance according to various tasks during flight. In this work, we provide concept, guideline of optimization, structure, feasibility, benefits and risks of one-embedded system payload approach. An example of implementation for optical remotes sensing payload including interfaces will be investigated

    Examining The Factors That Affect ERP Assimilation

    The aim of this study is to identify the factors that influence the assimilation of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in the post-implementation stage. Building on organizational information processing theory (OIPT) and absorptive capacity (AC), we propose an integrated model, which examines the relationship among organizational fit, absorptive capacity, environmental uncertainty, and ERP assimilation. Based on the survey data from 98 firms that have implemented ERP, most of the proposed hypotheses were supported, showing that initial fit, potential AC, realized AC, and heterogeneity jointly affect ERP assimilation. Task uncertainty (hostility and heterogeneity) negatively moderates the relationship between initial fit and ERP assimilation. The implications for both theory and practice are discussed
