A potential method to identify poor breast screening performance
In the UK all breast screeners undertake the PERFORMS scheme where they annually read case sets of challenging cases. From the subsequent data it is possible to identify any individual who is performing significantly lower than their peers. This can then facilitate them being offered further targeted training to improve performance. However, currently this under-performance can only be calculated once all screeners have taken part, which means the feedback can potentially take several months. To determine whether such performance outliers could usefully be identified approximately much earlier the data from the last round of the scheme were re-analysed. From the information of 283 participants, 1,000 groups of them were selected randomly for fixed group sizes varying from four to 50 individuals. After applying bootstrapping on 1,000 groups, a distribution of low performance threshold values was constructed. Then the accuracy of estimation was determined by calculating the median value and standard error of this distribution as compared with the known actual results. Data indicate that increasing sample sizes improved the estimation of the median and decreased the standard error. Using information from as few as 25 individuals allowed an approximation of the known outlier cut off value and this improved with larger sample sizes. This approach is now implemented in the PERFORMS scheme to enable individuals who have difficulties, as compared to their peers, to be identified very early after taking part which can then help them to improve their performance
Shape variation in epitaxial microstructures of gold silicide grown on br-passivated Si(1 1 1) surfaces
Kinetic Monte Carlo simulations for growth on substrates of three-fold symmetry predict the growth of islands of various shapes depending on the growth temperature [Phys. Rev. Lett. 71 (1993) 2967]. On Br-Si(1 1 1) substrates growth of epitaxial gold silicide islands of equilateral triangular and trapezoidal shapes have earlier been observed by annealing at the Au-Si eutectic temperature, 363 °C [Phys. Rev. B 51 (1995) 14330]. We carried out annealing with temperature variation within a small window--(363 ± 30) °C. This has led to island growth of additional shapes like regular hexagon, elongated hexagon, walled hexagon and dendrite. Some of the observed island shapes have not been predicted

Donkey milk: chemical make-up, biochemical features, nutritional worth, and possible human health benefits - Current state of scientific knowledge
Milk and milk derivatives are widely consumed because of their high nutritional density. Donkey milk and milk products have been consumed since ancient times. The use of donkey milk in the human diet is gaining popularity. The abundance of antibacterial components and protective elements in donkey milk sets it apart from the milk of other animals. Like human milk, donkey milk has low fat, high lactose, and low casein/whey protein ratio. Donkey milk whey protein's anti-proliferative properties imply lung cancer treatment. Alpha-lactalbumin, a type of protein, has been found to have antiviral, anticancer, and anti-stress properties. Donkey milk, like human milk, includes a low amount of casein and a smaller quantity of beta-lactoglobulin than cow milk. Donkey milk is an alternative for newborns with cow milk protein allergy and lactose intolerance since it has a higher amount of lactose, improves palatability, and prevents allergies. Osteogenesis, arteriosclerosis therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, accelerated aging, and hypocholesterolemic diets are some areas where donkey milk is beneficial. Since it contains probiotic lactobacilli strains, fermented beverages can be made with donkey milk. Donkey milk moisturizes skin due to its high vitamin, mineral, and polyunsaturated fatty acid content. The chemical makeup and potential therapeutic benefits of donkey milk warrant additional research. This has led to a rise in interest in producing dairy goods derived from donkey milk. Donkey milk has been used to make cheese, ice cream, milk powder, and even some experimental useful fermented drinks. The present article summarises what we know about donkey milk's chemical makeup, biological functions, nutritional worth, and possible human health benefits
Role of Modified Chaplygin Gas as a Dark Energy Model in Collapsing Spherically Symmetric Cloud
In this work, gravitational collapse of a spherical cloud, consists of both
dark matter and dark energy in the form of modified Chaplygin gas is studied.
It is found that dark energy alone in the form of modified Chaplygin gas forms
black hole. Also when both components of the fluid are present then the
collapse favors the formation of black hole in cases the dark energy dominates
over dark matter. The conclusion is totally opposite to the usually known

Gravitational Collapse in Higher Dimensional Husain Space-Time
We investigate exact solution in higher dimensional Husain model for a null
fluid source with pressure and density are related by the following
relations (i) , (ii) (variable
modified Chaplygin) and (iii) (polytropic). We have studied
the nature of singularity in gravitational collapse for the above equations of
state and also for different choices of the of the parameters and
namely, (i) , constant (generalized Chaplygin), (ii) constant
(modified Chaplygin). It is found that the nature of singularity is independent
of these choices of different equation of state except for variable Chaplygin
model. Choices of various parameters are shown in tabular form. Finally,

Composite Fermion Description of Correlated Electrons in Quantum Dots: Low Zeeman Energy Limit
We study the applicability of composite fermion theory to electrons in
two-dimensional parabolically-confined quantum dots in a strong perpendicular
magnetic field in the limit of low Zeeman energy. The non-interacting composite
fermion spectrum correctly specifies the primary features of this system.
Additional features are relatively small, indicating that the residual
interaction between the composite fermions is weak. \footnote{Published in

Accretion of Chaplygin gas upon black holes: Formation of faster outflowing winds
We study the accretion of modified Chaplygin gas upon different types of
black hole. Modified Chaplygin gas is one of the best candidates for a combined
model of dark matter and dark energy. In addition, from a field theoretical
point of view the modified Chaplygin gas model is equivalent to that of a
scalar field having a self-interacting potential. We formulate the equations
related to both spherical accretion and disc accretion, and respective winds.
The corresponding numerical solutions of the flow, particularly of velocity,
are presented and are analyzed. We show that the accretion-wind system of
modified Chaplygin gas dramatically alters the wind solutions, producing faster
winds, upon changes in physical parameters, while accretion solutions
qualitatively remain unaffected. This implies that modified Chaplygin gas is
more prone to produce outflow which is the natural consequence of the dark
