<p><strong>The culture of overflow in the times of underflow</strong></p> <p><br>One of the problems of modern culture is overflow which is the effect of<br>technological transformations. We can observe the dramatic change in the<br>information environment. Social abstract systems are becoming more and<br>more complex and simultaneously people’s cognitive skills are deteriorating.<br>The text concentrates around the critical analysis of the overflow<br>theory, especially in the sphere of culture and information as well as on<br>a description of psychosocial consequences of the overflow. The overflow<br>exhausts and makes life difficult, it complicates identity choices and<br>causes lack of sense of control. Different filters and heuristics appear in<br>the face of these and other consequences and are used by people to get<br>control over the overflow. The article focuses many tools of this sort which<br>are put together in five categories: 1. Heuristics of confiding/ surrender,<br>2. Heuristics of “fast and thrifty”, 3. Tools such as “ axing choices”, 4.<br>Solutions such as “everything at once” and 5. Conscious attempts to take<br>control over the information environment</p
