Os profissionais da informação nos Arquivos Municipais do Sul de Portugal

O objetivo geral da presente investigação é conhecer os recursos humanos existentes nos arquivos municipais a sul do Tejo, tendo por base a pergunta de partida com que Recursos Humanos se dotam os Arquivos Municipais a Sul do Tejo? Como objetivos específicos pretende-se identificar o número de recursos humanos existentes nos arquivos municipais e caracterizá-los quanto à categoria profissional, sexo, formação e faixa etária, bem como perceber quem são os responsáveis pelos arquivos municipais, e as suas qualificações. A investigação pretende dar a conhecer o que existe, saber Quantos São? Mas também o que não existe, efetuando um levantamento do número dos profissionais existentes, bem como da sua categoria profissional, sexo, formação e faixas etárias com vista a saber Quem é Quem nos Arquivos Municipais? A metodologia utilizada para a elaboração da investigação partiu inicialmente de uma fundamentação teórica, constituída na forma de revisão de literatura, através do método de análise documental. A recolha de dados foi efetuada através de um inquérito por questionário, enviado aos 57 arquivos municipais pertencentes aos distritos de Beja, Évora, Faro e Setúbal situados a sul do Tejo. Na fundamentação teórica, contextualizou-se os arquivos municipais enquanto serviço e instituição preservadora da memória, e os profissionais da informação tidos como todos os profissionais com ou sem formação, que atuam, exercem a profissão ou têm a informação como objeto da sua profissão no âmbito dos arquivos municipais. Abordando estudos anteriores, realizados no âmbito dos Grupos de Trabalho dos Arquivos Municipais da BAD, bem como um enquadramento normativo da profissão, incluindo as competências e funções dos profissionais da informação. A realização deste estudo permitiu aferir a existência de 221 profissionais da informação, destes, 51 possuem formação superior em Ciência da Informação, resultado contrariamente ao desejável, revelando uma realidade desoladora e a urgente necessidade de implementação de políticas públicas que revertam este cenário.The general objective of this research is to know the human resources that exists in the municipal archives south of the Tejo river, based on the starting question what are the Human Resources in the Municipal Archives south of the Tejo? The specific objectives are intended to identify the number of Human Resources existing in the municipal archives and to characterize them in terms of professional category, sex, training, and age group, as well as to understand who are responsible for the municipal archives, and their qualifications. The research intends to make known what exists, and how many are? But also, what does not exist, by carrying out a survey of the number of existing professionals, as well as their professional category, sex, training, and age groups to know who is Who in the Municipal Archives? The methodology used for the preparation of the research initially started from a theoretical foundation, constituted in the form of a literature review, through the documentary analysis method. The data collection was carried out through a questionnaire survey sent to the 57 municipal archives belonging to the districts of Beja, Évora, Faro and Setúbal located south of the Tejo. In the theoretical foundation, the municipal archives were contextualized as a service and institution that preserves memory, and the information professionals considered as all professionals with or without training, who work, practice the profession or have information as the object of their profession within the scope of municipal archives. Addressing previous studies, carried out within the Working Group of the Municipal Archives of the BAD, as well as a normative framework of the profession, including the skills and functions of the information professionals. The accomplishment of this study allowed to measure the existence of 221 information professionals, of which 51 have higher education degree in Information Science, resulting contrary to what would be desirable, revealing a bleak reality and the urgent need to implement public policies that reverse this scenario
