THE PREMISES OF STRATEGIC MARKETING PLANNING IMPLEMENTATION WITHIN SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZED ENTERPRISES

The main purpose of the present paper is to identify the framework and the necessary conditions for the small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to be able to adopt the strategic marketing planning. Also, the paper aims to underline the importance of the strategic marketing planning and the manner in which the SMEs can adopt, implement and operationalize the strategic marketing planning instruments, whose correct understanding and usage ensure the capacity to generate competitive advantage, the key element both from the perspective of the fierce competition and the perspective of the future development of the SMEs. Within SMEs the implementation of marketing becomes an evident requirment, mostly due to the relationship that these have with the market, thus, leading towards market orientation of the activities, a new approach developed by the marketing vision on managing the activities from these types of organizations. Regarded upon, from the marketing perspective, the activities from the SMEs, especially the marketing activities, cannot take place randomly. Resource allocation, a characteristic of these types of organizations, and the objectives with regards to superior customer needs satisfaction and economic efficiency maximization, claim thorough plannification and deployment of the activities in a sequence that represents the implementation of a strategy previously assumed. Within this framework, the strategic marketing planning appears as a complex process employing all scientific instruments that comprise segmentation, positioning and marketing mix. Utilizing the strategic marketing planning within SMEs depends to further extend on marketing integration; process directly related with a series of factors such as the nature of the market, development stage, product type, management quality and the influences of the marketing department of the SME. Sensitive Detection of Organophosphorus Pesticides Using a Needle Type Amperometric Acetylcholinesterase-based Bioelectrode. Thiocholine Electrochemistry and Immobilised Enzyme Inhibition

International audienceAn acetylcholinesterase (AChE) based amperometric bioelectrode for a selective detection of low concen¬ trations of organophosphorus pesticides has been developed. The amperometric needle type bioelectrode consists of a bare cavity in a PTFE isolated Pt-Ir wire, where the AChE was entrapped into a photopolymerised polymer of polyvinyl alcohol bearing styrylpyridinium groups (PVA-SbQ). Cyclic voltammetry, performed at Pt and AChE/Pt disk electrodes, confirmed the irreversible, monoelectronic thiocholine oxidation process and showed that a working potential of + 0.410 V vs. Ag/AgCl, KClSat was suitable for a selective and sensitive amperometric detection of thiocholine. The acetylthio-choline detection under enzyme kinetic control was found in the range of 0.01-0.3 U cm~" of immobilised AChE. The detection limit, calculated for an inhibition ratio of 10%, was found to reach 5 jxM for dipterex and 0.4 jaIVI for paraoxon. A kinetic analysis of the AChE-pesticide interaction process using Hanes-Woolf or Lineweaver-Burk linearisations and secondary plots allowed identification of the immobilised enzyme inhibition process as a mixed one (non/uncompetitive) for both dipterex and paraoxon. The deviation from classical Michaelis Menten kinetics induced from the studied pesticides was evaluated using Hill plots

Fast Evaluation of Ensemble Transients of Large IP Networks

We extend a numerical approximate solution method (the Z-iteration) to time-dependent open networks of M(t)/M(t)/1/$\infty$ and M(t)/M(t)/1/K queues, and apply the method to obtain transient performance metrics of large IP networks. The method generates a set of coupled differential equations, one for each queue in the network. The equations are numerically unstable under certain conditions (e.g., large bandwidths and buffers), and we present techniques to overcome this problem. The resulting numerical procedure is accurate and very fast. For example, a 20-second evolution for a 1000-node network with high-speed links ($\approx 10^4$packets/sec) and large buffers ($\approx 10^4$packets) was obtained in 18 minutes on an Ultra Sparc, whereas simulation would take days
