Oral characteristics of Trisomy 8 and monosomy 18: a case report

    Get PDF
Several reports described various mosaic chromosomal syndromes characterized by alterations originated by either an excess or deficit in the number of chromosomes. A case of mosaic trisomy 8 and monosomy 18 with significant involvement of the oral cavity is described, both in terms of general medicine and from a dental-oral perspective, and the treatment plan was planned and discussed. Regular follow-up visits enabled to verify significant improvement in all parameters of the patient’s oral health, which urged us to press on with our quest to protect the right to health of patients affected by disabilities

Writing new scripts: redefining managerial agency in Cuba

Transitional societies are faced with particularly challenging and pressing problems. These usually involve the passage from a centralised, socialist-based society, to a decentralised, market-based economy. This paper addresses a somewhat different case: that of Cuba. According to the official discourse, the island is not in a state of transition. On the contrary, it is assumed that the conquests of the revolution are there to stay. Nonetheless, significant changes are taking place. The market logic is being adopted in a growing number of cases, ranging from empresas mixtas to the weak signals of entrepreneurial activity. Drawing on a series of eight focus groups with a total of 106 Cuban executives and management scholars, this paper addresses the uniqueness of the Cuban case on the basis of the theory of structuration. The paper reports how the need to keep the faith is being added with the adoption of Western management practices, and how the interplay between planned and emergent change is sculpting transition through the redefinition of managerial scripts.Cuba, managerial scripts, agency, structuration theory, focus groups

    Una Genealogia punica: l'iscrizione I.C.O. Sard. 34

La storia del rinvenimento dell'iscrizione I.C.O. Sard.

For this, the water tree resistances of crosslinked and thermoplastic low density polyethylene were compared. Three types of crosslinked polyethylene systems were evaluated: one containing only peroxide and the other two having, beside peroxide, a free retarding additive system. The results were compared with those obtained on their thermoplastic correspondents. The data show that there are differences in both the water tree length and density that can be ascribed to the polyethylene systems. However, only differences in the water tree density could be ascribed to the material form (thermoplastic or crosslinked). The observed results are consistent with differences, on microscopic level, in permittivities and local breakdown strengths. This work was partly supported by the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research, in the frame of Grant CNCSIS A-1461
