Sobre la diversidad intercultural. Bases teóricas y praxis social

La sociedad monocultural es una falacia, es inviable, porque obligaría a las minorías a integrarse asimilándose: significaría imposición de una cultura sobre las demás con el objetivo de conseguir una uniformización social que facilitara la dominación de un grupo sobre los demás y la eliminación de toda diferencia. En cambio, la diversidad intercultural, sobre la cual versa esta obra colectiva, nos invita a modificar aquello que no queremos; nos insta a crecer y a hacerlo multilateralmente y, para conseguirlo, tenemos que reinventarnos, lo que conlleva reformar los espacios y las estructuras para que el Otro diferente penetre en nuestro mundo y viceversa. Ello implica desmontar argumentos fallidos y no poner tantas trabas a que se exprese la diversidad, esa diversidad que es consustancial a la vida y que implica posibilidad, reafirmación y desarrollo genuino.The monocultural society is a fallacy, it is unviable, because it would force minorities to integrate by assimilating: it would mean imposing one culture on the others with the aim of achieving a social standardisation that would facilitate the domination of one group over the others and the elimination of all difference. In contrast, intercultural diversity, which is the subject of this collective work, invites us to change what we do not want; it urges us to grow and to do so multilaterally and, to achieve this, we have to reinvent ourselves, which entails reforming spaces and structures so that the different Other can penetrate our world and vice versa. This means dismantling flawed arguments and not putting so many obstacles in the way of expressing diversity, that diversity which is consubstantial to life and which implies possibility, reaffirmation and genuine development
