The complex investigation of the NACA 23012 airfoil equipped with the Guerney flap was carried out. The main aim was to describe the non-stationary mechanism of its function and to compare the facts about the flap obtained by several different methods. Force-measurement data above all confirmed the favourable qualities of the Guerney flap previously reported in the literature. Further the PIV-images showed different phases of non-stationary flow downstream of the flap and its changes with the angle of attack, which is completely new. Images of the flowfiled downstream the flap obtained by CFD simulations also approved good degree of agreement with known time-averaged pictures and theit comparison with the PIV picture made possible to investigate connection of time-averaged and instantaneous image of the flowfield in this region.Available from STL, Prague, CZ / NTK - National Technical LibrarySIGLECZCzech Republi

Problems concerning the solution of the coupled problem of interaction of a viscous fluid and elastic solid are considered. Interest is concentrated on numerical methods for the solution of evolutionary problem by means of finite elements. Fluid id described by Navier-Stokes equations and structure by Lame equations. An algorithm, based on domain-decomposition technique is also presented. Formulas and relations, which are necessary for numerical domains, were derived in details. The developed methods are applied in several problems of aeroelasticity in biomechanics. We study the interaction of flowing blood in elastic arteries and vibrations of vocal folds by means of flowing air. Numerical results are also compared to experiments, results of which were available.Available from STL, Prague, CZ / NTK - National Technical LibrarySIGLECZCzech Republi

There are two main subjects covered in this work. The first one is analysis chaotic time series by means of neural networks. Neural networks are applied for chaotic time series classification, defect detection, chaotic system modeling - generation of chaos, chaotic attractor reconstruction, detection of qualitative dynamic changes and their transitions. Neural networks are suitable in cases where standard methods do not converge or when they are not stable and also in cases where not enough experimental data is available. Designed methods were tested on simulated chaotic systems and the results were compared with standard methods of deterministic chaos theories. The work also mentions the basic limitation of neural network synthesis - the absence of criteria quality of the model. The second subject of the work is the application of neural networks on qualitative bio-signal analysis. The focus was put on analysis chaotic part of the cardio-signal what is the main characteristic of cardiovascular system in terms of non-linear dynamics. In the application part of the work is reviewed the use of global non-linear prediction, represented by neuron model, for classification and diagnostics of chaotic courses. Appropriate choice of model generalization may influence on the amount of generalized classes of similar chaotic processes and thus create the base of recognition rule. Application of neural networks for chaotic process multiatractor dynamics decomposition is mentioned in final part of the work.Available from STL, Prague, CZ / NTK - National Technical LibrarySIGLECZCzech Republi

This doctoral thesis deals with applications of advanced materials in design of manipulators, robots and production equipment. Useful materials are selected pursuant to material development trends and following design of kinematic structure of production machines, robots and manipulators. Selected materials can affect positively not only mechanical characteristic but also functional characteristic. Reinforced plastic and polymerconcrete have the most interesting constructional and application possibilities. It results from analyses fo composite application that design conception of machine parts from composites is completely different from designing of metal parts. General technique for designing of parts from reinforced plastics is therefore proposed in this thesis. It includes especially material selection, joint solving and selection of production technology. Hydraulic cylinder for actuating of parallel manipulator rod was designed according to this technique. The program for analysis of simple laminates by course of Classical Laminate Theory was created. The program was created in environment Maple V and uses new Puck strength theory. Another programs are intended for analysis of thick-walled pressure vessels from reinforced plastics and hybrid cylinders from metal liner and laminate reinforcement. Producing of prototypes completes development of hydraulic cylinder made of composite materials. There are two prototypes, CFRP - cylinder and CFRP cylinder with sandwich structure that were manufactured in 199 in co-operation of Department of Production Machines and Mechanisms, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague, and German research institute Fraunhofer Institut fur Produktionstechnologie in Aachen, within project DFG - SFB 332. Study on application of new drive for actuating of Stewart platform laminate rod is mentioned in final part of thesis.Available from STL, Prague, CZ / NTK - National Technical LibrarySIGLECZCzech Republi

This thesis deals with problems of error detection in transmission channels and signals. The introductory theoretical part of the work describes the principle of error detection in a diagnostic object and, further generally describes some deterministic methods for error detection. The next part of the work is aimed at analysis of sources of errors in signals during their transmission in transmission channels. Common methods of signal transmission and causes of error origin for individual types of transmission are described here. Further, the mathematical and physical model of the transmission channel is given and representative particular deterministic methods for detection of errors of signals and transmission channels are described. Neural networks and their application for detection of errors in signals are discussed in the 6. part of the work. An outline of different kinds of neural networks as well as possibilities of their use in the solved problems is given here. Use of neural networks for detection of errors in signals is analyzed in the application part of the work. Detection of errors is divided here into two phases - the localization phase and classification phase. The experimental part of the work is aimed at the project, realization and checking for the operation of a diagnostic system with use of neural networks for detection of errors of signals. First, a survey of the considered errors of signals and their classification into the individual categories is presented there. Localization and classification of errors in signals is described in the next part. The principle of generation of the difference vector and classification of errors with the use of the symptom analysis method in the difference vector was done. The method of analysis of a separated error part of a signal, is explained there. The principle of localization and classification of errors is introduced there with the use of examples of error detection in representative types of signals. As a practical application, the detection of errors in signals from tensometric measurements as well as from real audio signals is given in the thesis.Available from STL, Prague, CZ / NTK - National Technical LibrarySIGLECZCzech Republi

Development of opto-mechanical tools and procedures for the new generation of RICH-detectors at CERN.

This thesis is focused on development of opto-mechanical tools and procedures, which, applied in the preparation of the new Ring Imaging Cherenkov detectors would contribute to the achievement of the best possible performance of these detectors. On the base of requirements, given by the physics objective of the LHCb detector, and an analysis of the detector opto-mechanical system, specifications of individual opto-mechanical components were determined. Spherical, eventually planar mirrors and mirror adjustable mounts were the components of interest. Next, their parameters to be characterized were defined. For mirrors, it was a radius of curvature, a precision of the geometry of reflecting surface, a spectral reflectivity and roughness of the reflecting surface and a long-term stability should have been determined. Possible measurement methods were studied and relevant set ups based on chosen convenient methods were developed. In the development, available modern metrology technologies, like laser operated instruments or digital image processing, were applied with attempt to innovative them and to increase their achievable performance limits. When applicable, the set ups were automated in order to make the measurements effective and objective. An optical laboratory, devoted to the characterization of the RICH opto-mechanical components, was established. Collaboration with industry was started. A number of prototypes of mirrors and of mirror mounts for both the LHCb and COMPASS RICH detectors was tested, and a feedback to manufacturers was provided. On the base of obtained results, manufacturers optimized their technologies, and initial specifications were modified. The quality of the whole production of the COMPASS RICH 1 mirrors was tested in the TA2 optical laboratory. The laboratory and its facilities are being applied for optimization of the LHCb RICH opto-mechanical component parameters and they will be used for quality tests of final products. The development of measurement instruments has not been finished, present set ups are being further improved and the development of new set ups is planned.Available from STL, Prague, CZ / NTK - National Technical LibrarySIGLECZCzech Republi
