Mobility Management in CORBA: A Generic Implementation of the LifeCycle Service

    No full text
. CORBA enables objects interaction in a transparent manner according to location and heterogeneity. However, this kind of platforms lack mobility functions. That is why we propose a solution based on a generic implementation of CORBA's LifeCycle Service. Our mechanism relies on intermediary objects that are used to encapsulate mobility management. Keywords: CORBA, LifeCycle Service, mobile object, proxy. 1 Introduction CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) is a new standard for distributed environments which enables object components to interact in a transparent manner according to location and heterogeneity. Mobility functions are needed on these platforms for classical concerns such as administration, fault tolerance or load balancing or for newer research fields such as mobile computing. We propose a generic mechanism to introduce these functions following CORBA's mobility model based on the LifeCycle Service. Much research work has been done about process migration ..

Phoneme-level indexing for fast and vocabulary-independent voice/voice retrieval,” ESCA ETRW workshop Accessing information in spoken audio

    No full text
This paper reports explorations on a novel approach for speech information retrieval with spoken queries. The method uses a two-layer decoding scheme, where the intermediary representation of speech is based on phonemes, which makes the system vocabularyindependent. Moreover, the use of synchronized lattices at this intermediary level is shown to improve the discriminative performance while decreasing the size of the parameter space, and with a very reasonable additional computational cost. 1
