Large production of the \ccbar pairs and high integrated luminosity make the PEPII B-Factory, an excellent place for studying the charm hadrons. In this paper, we present a few of the most recent results from the BaBar collaboration in the charm sector.Comment: To appear in the proceedings of the XIII International Workshop on Deep Inelastic Scattering - DIS 2005, April 27-May 1, 2005, Madison, Wisconsi

Heavy Flavor Production at the Tevatron

Using a subset of the current Run II data, the CDF and \D0 have performed several measurements on heavy flavor production. In this paper, we present a new measurement of prompt charm meson production by CDF. We also report the latest CDF II measurements of inclusive J/ΨJ/\Psi production and bb-production without requirement of minimum transverse momentum on J/ΨJ/\Psi and bb-quark. They are the first measurements of the total inclusive J/ΨJ/\Psi and bb quark cross section in the central rapidity region at a hadron collider. The results of J/ΨJ/\Psi cross section as a function of rapidity, and bb-jet production cross section measured by \D0 are also reviewed.Comment: Invited talk the 9th International Conference on B-Physics at Hadron Machines - BEAUTY 2003, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, October 14-18, 2003. Structure design of the ship pedestal based on topology optimization

    Get PDF
The optimization study of the ship pedestal structure is of great significance to the lightweight and the anti-shock performance of the ship. Therefore, the TOSCA software is used to design the ship pedestal in topology optimization. of a ship's pedestal. By setting the load, determining the objective function, selecting the constraints, and selecting the optimization region, the topology-optimized pedestal structure is obtained. Then, the structure was redesigned to determine the final structure of the pedestal. Finally, compared with the traditional pedestal for modal and anti-shock performance, it is verified that the designed pedestal in this paper has improved performance over the traditional one

Advanced Electrode Materials by Electrostatic Spray Deposition for Li-ion Batteries

Recent development in portable electronics and electric vehicles have increased the demand for high performance lithium ion batteries. However, it is still challenging to produce high energy and high power lithium ion batteries. The major objective of this research is to fabricate advanced electrode materials with enhanced power density and energy density. Porous Li4Ti5O12 (LTO) and its nanocomposites (with Si and reduced graphene oxide (rGO)) synthesized by electrostatic spray deposition (ESD) technique were mainly studied and promising electrochemical performance was achieved. In chapter 3, porous LTO thin film electrode was synthesized by ESD to solve the low energy density and low power density issues by providing good ionic and electronic conductivities. Electrochemical test results showed that it had a large specific capacity of 357 mAh g-1 at 0.15 A g-1, which was even higher than its theoretical capacity. It also exhibited very high rate capability of 98 mAh g-1 at 6 A g-1. The improved electrochemical performance was due to the advantage of ESD generated porous structures. In order to further enhance the power density of LTO, ESD derived LTO/rGO composite electrodes were studied in chapter 4. In chapter 5, high energy density component Si was introduced viii into LTO composite. The synergistic effect between commercial LTO and Si powder was studied. Then, ESD derived LTO/Si/rGO composite was prepared and evaluated. At 0.15 A g-1, a stable capacity of 624 mAh g-1 was observed, which was much higher than the capacities of LTO and LTO/rGO electrodes. In addition, effect of activation process on electrochemical performance of carbon nanofibers (ACNFs) and feasibility of ion intercalation into 2D MMT montmorillonite clay (MMT) were studied and discussed in chapter 6. In summary, we have successfully synthesized various LTO based electrodes by ESD. Both high energy and high power density were achieved as compared to commercial LTO electrode. Through electrochemical characterization and charge storage distribution analysis, origins of the high rate capability were proposed. This work demonstrates ESD as a powerful tool for fabricating high performance porous structures and nanocomposite electrode materials

Hydrothermal plume detection dataset from Chinese cruises to the equatorial East Pacific Rise. Data in Brief, 33, (2020): 106540, doi:10.1016/j.dib.2020.106540.In this data article, a dataset from hydrothermal plume investigations on East Pacific Rise collected during Chinese cruises from 2008 to 2011 is reported. The dataset is related to the research article entitled “Abundance of low-temperature axial venting at the equatorial East Pacific Rise” published in the journal Deep-Sea Research I by Chen et al. (2020). In the dataset, continuous strings of time-series sensor data were obtained by Miniature Autonomous Plume Recorders (MAPR) and an Oxidation-Reduction Potential (ORP) sensor, while the underwater position data was derived using Ultra Short Base Line (USBL) navigation. In this contribution, general characteristics of the data are summarized and showed here. All the data are stored in separate Microsoft Excel spreadsheets that are available for researchers and a link is provided to the full data at http://dx.doi.org/10.17632/jckyj5vyjx.1. The data will be of comparative value to those investigating hydrothermal activities along mid-ocean ridges, worldwide. We acknowledge the science parties and crew of Dayang YiHao expedition DY17 in 2005, DY20 in 2008, DY21 in 2009 and DY22 in 2011 for data collection.
