Evidence of spin liquid with hard-core bosons in a square lattice
We show that laser assisted hopping of hard core bosons in a square optical
lattice can be described by an antiferromagnetic - XY model with
tunable ratio of . We numerically investigate the phase diagram of
the - XY model using both the tensor network algorithm for
infinite systems and the exact diagonalization for small clusters and find
strong evidence that in the intermediate region around ,
there is a spin liquid phase with vanishing magnetization and valence bond
orders, which interconnects the Neel state on the side and the
stripe antiferromagnetic phase on the side. This finding
opens up the possibility of studying the exotic spin liquid phase in a
realistic experimental system using ultracold atoms in an optical lattice.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure
Effects of f(R) Model on the Dynamical Instability of Expansionfree Gravitational Collapse
Dark energy models based on f(R) theory have been extensively studied in
literature to realize the late time acceleration. In this paper, we have chosen
a viable f(R) model and discussed its effects on the dynamical instability of
expansionfree fluid evolution generating a central vacuum cavity. For this
purpose, contracted Bianchi identities are obtained for both the usual matter
as well as dark source. The term dark source is named to the higher order
curvature corrections arising from f(R) gravity. The perturbation scheme is
applied and different terms belonging to Newtonian and post Newtonian regimes
are identified. It is found that instability range of expansionfree fluid on
external boundary as well as on internal vacuum cavity is independent of
adiabatic index but depends upon the density profile, pressure
anisotropy and f(R) model.Comment: 26 pages, no figure. arXiv admin note: text overlap with

Doping Nanocrystals And The Role Of Quantum Confinement
Recent progress in developing algorithms for solving the electronic structure problem for nanostructures is illustrated. Key ingredients in this approach include pseudopotentials implemented on a real space grid and the use of density functional theory. This procedure allows one to predict electronic properties for many materials across the nano-regime, i.e., from atoms to nanocrystals of sufficient size to replicate bulk properties. We will illustrate this method for doping silicon nanocrystals with phosphorous.Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences (ICES
Phase transition in the Higgs model of scalar dyons
In the present paper we investigate the phase transition
"Coulomb--confinement" in the Higgs model of abelian scalar dyons -- particles
having both, electric and magnetic , charges. It is shown that by dual
symmetry this theory is equivalent to scalar fields with the effective squared
electric charge e^{*2}=e^2+g^2. But the Dirac relation distinguishes the
electric and magnetic charges of dyons. The following phase transition
couplings are obtained in the one--loop approximation:
\alpha_{crit}=e^2_{crit}/4\pi\approx 0.19,
\tilde\alpha_{crit}=g^2_{crit}/4\pi\approx 1.29 and \alpha^*_{crit}\approx
1.48.Comment: 16 pages, 2 figure
Supersolid and charge density-wave states from anisotropic interaction in an optical lattice
We show anisotropy of the dipole interaction between magnetic atoms or polar
molecules can stabilize new quantum phases in an optical lattice. Using a well
controlled numerical method based on the tensor network algorithm, we calculate
phase diagram of the resultant effective Hamiltonian in a two-dimensional
square lattice - an anisotropic Hubbard model of hard-core bosons with
attractive interaction in one direction and repulsive interaction in the other
direction. Besides the conventional superfluid and the Mott insulator states,
we find the striped and the checkerboard charge density wave states and the
supersolid phase that interconnect the superfluid and the striped solid states.
The transition to the supersolid phase has a mechanism different from the case
of the soft-core Bose Hubbard model.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures
Activation barrier scaling and crossover for noise-induced switching in a micromechanical parametric oscillator
We explore fluctuation-induced switching in a parametrically-driven
micromechanical torsional oscillator. The oscillator possesses one, two or
three stable attractors depending on the modulation frequency. Noise induces
transitions between the coexisting attractors. Near the bifurcation points, the
activation barriers are found to have a power law dependence on frequency
detuning with critical exponents that are in agreement with predicted universal
scaling relationships. At large detuning, we observe a crossover to a different
power law dependence with an exponent that is device specific.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure

Managing Pharmacotherapy in People Living With HIV and Concomitant Malignancy.
Objective: To describe data with selected malignancies in people living with HIV (PLWH) and HIV in individuals affected by both conditions and to summarize drug-drug interactions (DDIs) with clinical recommendations for point-of-care review of combination therapies. Data Sources: Literature searches were performed (2005 to December 2018) in MEDLINE and EMBASE to identify studies of malignancies in PLWH in the modern era. Study Selection and Data Extraction: Article bibliographies and drug interaction databases were reviewed. Search terms included HIV, antiretroviral therapy, antineoplastic agents, malignancies, and drug interactions. Data Synthesis: In the pre-antiretroviral therapy (ART) era, malignancies in PLWH were AIDS-defining illnesses, and life expectancy was shorter. Nowadays, PLWH are living longer and developing malignancies, including lung, anal, and prostate cancers. Concurrently, the oncology landscape has evolved, with novel oral targeted agents and immunotherapies becoming routine elements of care. The increased need for and complexity with antineoplastics in PLWH has led to recommendations for multidisciplinary care of this unique population. Evaluation of DDIs requires review of metabolic pathways, absorption mechanisms, and various drug transporters associated with antineoplastics and ART. Relevance to Patient Care and Clinical Practice: This review summarizes available data of non-AIDS-defining malignancies, principles of HIV care in the patient with malignancy, and guidance for assessing DDIs between antineoplastics and ART. Summary DDI tables provide point-of-care recommendations. Conclusions: The availability of ART has transformed AIDS into a chronic medical condition, and PLWH are experiencing age-related malignancies. Pharmacists play an important role in the management of this patient population
Some exact results on the matter star-product in the half-string formalism
We show that the D25 sliver wavefunction, just as the D-instanton sliver,
factorizes when expressed in terms of half-string coordinates. We also
calculate analytically the star-product of two zero-momentum eigenstates of
using the vertex in the oscillator basis, thereby showing that the
star-product in the matter sector can indeed be seen as multiplication of
matrices acting on the space of functionals of half strings. We then use the
above results to establish that the matrices , conjectured by
Rastelli, Sen and Zwiebach to be left and right projectors on the sliver, are
indeed so.Comment: 27 pages; footnote adde
Topological Bose-Mott Insulators in a One-Dimensional Optical Superlattice
We study topological properties of the Bose-Hubbard model with repulsive
interactions in a one-dimensional optical superlattice. We find that the Mott
insulator states of the single-component (two-component) Bose-Hubbard model
under fractional fillings are topological insulators characterized by a nonzero
charge (or spin) Chern number with nontrivial edge states. For ultracold atomic
experiments, we show that the topological Chern number can be detected through
measuring the density profiles of the bosonic atoms in a harmonic trap.Comment: 5 pages, published versio
