On the Poincare Gauge Theory of Gravitation

We present a compact, self-contained review of the conventional gauge theoretical approach to gravitation based on the local Poincare group of symmetry transformations. The covariant field equations, Bianchi identities and conservation laws for angular momentum and energy-momentum are obtained.Comment: v2: minor changes, references added; 18 pages, no figure

Critical Discourse Analysis of Power Struggle and Marxism Theory in Hwang Dong Hyuk’s Series Squid Game

This paper attempts to explore the abuse of power and powerlessness in the discourse of Hwang Dong Hyuk’s series squid game according to Marxism. The main focus of the paper is how powerless people are targeted through communication and are tricked to believe that they can also be rich and be able to live easy lives if they do what they are told to. It is clear that in today’s society poor class has to follow every order of the elite class in order to survive. The powerlessness of the poor and abuse of power of the elite is clearly shown in this series. By CDA of the selective text it is clear that two classes are being discussed, poor class and elite class. Elite giving orders and poor following them. Abuse of power is clear where it is said by the rich person that he never forced them to play the game. You came back on your own accord. The elite living in luxury is manipulating the poor for his own entertainment. Marxism clearly fits in this situation. If they had power or money of their own, they would have never resorted to such methods. Fairclough 3D model 1992 can also be taken into perspective. As the murder was practiced by a single criminal in that game and some of them also got into doing so

Objective: Aim of the study was to investigate the prevalence of diabetes and HIV infection by screening in newly diagnosed pulmonary tuberculosis patients. Methods: This cross sectional study was conducted in Pulmonology department Bahawal Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur.  From  1 June 2018 to 1 June 2019 after taking approval from the institutional ethical committee. Total 159 newly diagnosed pulmonary tuberculosis patients were recruited by non-probability consecutive sampling. Mean and SD was calculated for numerical variables like age , BMI, FBG, Hemoglobin and monthly income. Ferquancy and percentages were calculated for categorical variables like gender, smooking status, educational status, alcohol consumption, prevelance of HIV and diabetes, Ch square test was use to check significant different in PTB and Non PTB patients. P value of < 0.05 was taken as significant. Results: Significant difference was found between age (p=0.000), BMI (p=0.000), FBG (p=0.000), hemoglobin (p=0.000), gender (p=0.002) and alcohol consumption (p=0.034), in groups, except education status (p=0.090) and monthly income (p=0.068). The main outcome variables of this study were HIV infection and diabetes. HIV infection was noted in 3.1% (n=5) and 1.9% (n=3) patients for PTB and non-PTB group respectively. While, 8.2% (n=13) and 4.4% (n=4) patients suffered from diabetes, for both the groups respectively. Conclusion: The results of our study revealed that on screening of newly diagnosed pulmonary tuberculosis patients with HIV infection and diabetes, their prevalence was high as compared to non-pulmonary tuberculosis group. But this difference was statistically non significant (P value 0.474 and 0.166). Key words:   Pulmonary tuberculosis, Diabetes, HIV infection DOI: 10.7176/JMPB/55-21 Publication date:May 31st 201

Objective: To study the frequency of various factor leading to meconium aspiration syndrome. Material & Method: This present descriptive cross sectional study was carried out at Department of Pediatrics Medicine Bahawal Victoria  Hospital Multan. for 6 months i.e. from October 8, 2018 to April 8, 2019. The non-probability, consecutive sampling technique was used. Newborns having staining of vocal cords and respiratory distress were included in this study. ABG and X ray Chest was done in all neonates. Factors like, Post-term pregnancy, IUGR, thick meconium, low APGAR score at 1 and 5 minutes were noted. All the collected data was entered and analyzed on SPSS version 23. Chi square and T test were used to check significant relation of risk factors with meconium aspiration syndrome. P value of 0,05 was consider significant. Results: Among total enrolled 150 babies, the mean age of babies was 37.37±18.96 hours, the male to female ratio of the babies was 1.03:1. The mean maternal age was 28.85±6.602 years. The thick meconium was observed in 89(59.33%) patients, 79(52.7%) patients went through vaginal delivery, postdate pregnancy was noted in 68(45.3%) patients, IUGR was observed in 52(34.7%) patients and poor APGAR score at 1 min was noted in 79(52.7%) patients. Conclusion: The observations of our study revealed that Meconium aspiration syndrome has significant relation with maternal age(P value 0.000), postdated pregnancy(P Value 0.001), IUGR (P value 0.021), poor APGAR score at 5 minutes( P value 0.034), and thick meconium(P value 0.000). Prostacyclin exists in equilibrium with other vasoactive hormones and a disturbance in the balance of these factors leads to cardiovascular disease including pulmonary arterial hypertension. Since it’s discovery in the 1980s concerted efforts have been made to make the best therapeutic utility of prostacyclin, particularly in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension. This has centred on working out the detailed pharmacology of prostacyclin and then synthesising new molecules based on its structure that are more stable or more easily tolerated. In addition, newer molecules have been developed that are not analogues of prostacyclin but that target the receptors that prostacyclin activates. Prostacyclin and related drugs have without doubt revolutionised the treatment and management of pulmonary arterial hypertension but are seriously limited by side effects within the systemic circulation. With the dawn of nanomedicine and targeted drug or stem cell delivery systems it will, in the very near future, be possible to make new formulations of prostacyclin that can evade the systemic circulation allowing for safe delivery to the pulmonary vessels. In this way, the full therapeutic potential of prostacyclin can be realised opening the possibility that pulmonary arterial hypertension will become, if not curable, a chronic manageable disease that is no longer fatal. This review discusses these and other issues relating to prostacyclin and its use in pulmonary arterial hypertensionPeer reviewedFinal Published versio

Quantum time of flight distribution for cold trapped atoms

The time of flight distribution for a cloud of cold atoms falling freely under gravity is considered. We generalise the probability current density approach to calculate the quantum arrival time distribution for the mixed state describing the Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution of velocities for the falling atoms. We find an empirically testable difference between the time of flight distribution calculated using the quantum probability current and that obtained from a purely classical treatment which is usually employed in analysing time of flight measurements. The classical time of flight distribution matches with the quantum distribution in the large mass and high temperature limits.Comment: 6 pages, RevTex, 4 eps figure
