Dynamic scaling and aging phenomena in short-range Ising spin glass: CuCoCl-FeCl graphite bi-intercalation compound
Static and dynamic behavior of short-range Ising-spin glass
CuCoCl-FeCl graphite bi-intercalation compounds
(GBIC) has been studied with SQUID DC and AC magnetic susceptibility. The
dependence of the zero-field relaxation time above a spin-freezing
temperature (= 3.92 0.11 K) is well described by critical slowing
down. The absorption below decreases with
increasing angular frequency , which is in contrast to the case of 3D
Ising spin glass. The dynamic freezing temperature at which
dd, is determined as a function of
frequency (0.01 Hz 1 kHz) and magnetic field (0 5 kOe). The dynamic scaling analysis of the relaxation time
defined as at suggests the absence of
SG phase in the presence of (at least above 100 Oe). Dynamic scaling
analysis of and near
leads to the critical exponents ( = 0.36 0.03, = 3.5
0.4, = 1.4 0.2, = 6.6 1.2, = 0.24
0.02, and = 0.13 0.02). The aging phenomenon is studied through
the absorption below . It obeys a
power-law decay with an exponent . The rejuvenation effect is also observed under
sufficiently large (temperature and magnetic-field) perturbations.Comment: 14 pages, 19 figures; to be published in Phys. Rev. B (September 1,

Nurse-led telephone interventions for people with cardiac disease: A review of the research literature
Background: Nurse-led telephone follow-up offers a relatively inexpensive method of delivering education and support for assisting recovery in the early discharge period; however, its efficacy is yet to be determined. Aim: To perform a critical integrative review of the research literature addressing the effectiveness of nurse-led telephone interventions for people with coronary heart disease (CHD). Methods: A literature search of five health care databases; Sciencedirect, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Pubmed, Proquest and Medline to identify journal articles between 1980 and 2009. People with cardiac disease were considered for inclusion in this review. The search yielded 128 papers, of which 24 met the inclusion criteria. Results: A total of 8330 participants from 24 studies were included in the final review. Seven studies demonstrated statistically significant differences in all outcomes measured, used two group experimental research design and valid and reliable instruments. Some positive effects were detected in eight studies in regards to nurse-led telephone interventions for people with cardiac disease and no differences were detected in nine studies. Discussion: Studies with some positive effects generally had stronger research designs, large samples, used valid and reliable instruments and extensive nurse-led educative interventions. Conclusion: The results suggest that people with cardiac disease showed some benefits from nurse-led/delivered telephone interventions. More rigorous research into this area is needed
Dynamic scaling in spin glasses
We present new Neutron Spin Echo (NSE) results and a revisited analysis of
historical data on spin glasses, which reveal a pure power-law time decay of
the spin autocorrelation function at the glass
temperature , each power law exponent being in excellent agreement with
that calculated from dynamic and static critical exponents deduced from
macroscopic susceptibility measurements made on a quite different time scale.
It is the first time that this scaling relation involving exponents of
different physical quantities determined by completely independent experimental
methods is stringently verified experimentally in a spin glass. As spin glasses
are a subgroup of the vast family of glassy systems also comprising structural
glasses, other non-crystalline systems living matter the observed strict
critical scaling behaviour is important. Above the phase transition the
strikingly non-exponential relaxation, best fitted by the Ogielski (power-law
times stretched exponential) function, appears as an intrinsic, homogeneous
feature of spin glasses.Comment: 5 pages and 4 figure
