    We discuss the feasibility of spontaneous CP violation being induced by radiative corrections in 2HDM's. Specifically, we analyze the cases of gaugino/higgsino effect on MSSM, and a new model with an extra exotic quark doublet.     Optimization of Dimples in Microchannel Heat Sink with Impinging Jets—Part B: the Influences of Dimple Height and Arrangement

    The combination of a microchannel heat sink with impinging jets and dimples (MHSIJD) can effectively improve the flow and heat transfer performance on the cooling surface of electronic devices with very high heat fluxes. Based on the previous work by analysing the effect of dimple radius on the overall performance of MHSIJD, the effects of dimple height and arrangement were numerically analysed. The velocity distribution, pressure drop, and thermal performance of MHSIJD under various dimple heights and arrangements were presented. The results showed that: MHSIJD with higher dimples had better overall performance with dimple radius being fixed; creating a mismatch between the impinging hole and dimple can solve the issue caused by the drift phenomenon; the mismatch between the impinging hole and dimple did not exhibit better overall performance than a well-matched design

    The topological system with a twisting edge band: position-dependent Hall resistance

    We study a ν=1\nu=1 topological system with one twisting edge-state band and one normal edge-state band. For the twisting edge-state band, Fermi energy goes through the band three times, thus, having three edge states on one side of the sample; while the normal edge band contributes only one edge state on the other side of the sample. In such a system, we show that it consists of both topologically protected and unprotected edge states, and as a consequence, its Hall resistance depends on the location where the Hall measurement is done even for a translationally invariant system. This unique property is absent in a normal topological insulator

    Time-dependent universal conductance fluctuations in mesoscopic Au wires: implications

    In cold, mesoscopic conductors, two-level fluctuators lead to time-dependent universal conductance fluctuations (TDUCF) manifested as 1/f1/f noise. In Au nanowires, we measure the magnetic field dependence of TDUCF, weak localization (WL), and magnetic field-driven (MF) UCF before and after treatments that alter magnetic scattering and passivate surface fluctuators. Inconsistencies between LĎ•WLL_{\phi}^{\rm WL} and LĎ•TDUCFL_{\phi}^{\rm TDUCF} strongly suggest either that the theory of these mesoscopic phenomena in weakly disordered, highly pure Au is incomplete, or that the assumption that the TDUCF frequency dependence remains 1/f1/f to very high frequencies is incorrect. In the latter case, TDUCF in excess of 1/f1/f expectations may have implications for decoherence in solid-state qubits.Comment: 8 pages, 9 figures, accepted to PR
