Process for making RF shielded cable connector assemblies and the products formed thereby

    Get PDF
A process for making RF shielded cable connector assemblies and the resulting structures is described. The process basically consists of potting wires of a shielded cable between the cable shield and a connector housing to fill in, support, regidize, and insulate the individual wires contained in the cable. The formed potting is coated with an electrically conductive material so as to form an entirely encompassing adhering conductive path between the cable shield and the metallic connector housing. A protective jacket is thereby formed over the conductive coating between the cable shield and the connector housing

Screening in Ionic Systems: Simulations for the Lebowitz Length

Simulations of the Lebowitz length, ξL(T,ρ)\xi_{\text{L}}(T,\rho), are reported for t he restricted primitive model hard-core (diameter aa) 1:1 electrolyte for densi ties ρ4ρc\rho\lesssim 4\rho_c and TcT40TcT_c \lesssim T \lesssim 40T_c. Finite-size eff ects are elucidated for the charge fluctuations in various subdomains that serve to evaluate ξL\xi_{\text{L}}. On extrapolation to the bulk limit for T10TcT\gtrsim 10T_c the low-density expansions (Bekiranov and Fisher, 1998) are seen to fail badly when ρ>1/10ρc\rho > {1/10}\rho_c (with ρca30.08\rho_c a^3 \simeq 0.08). At highe r densities ξL\xi_{\text{L}} rises above the Debye length, \xi_{\text{D}} \prop to \sqrt{T/\rho}, by 10-30% (upto ρ1.3ρc\rho\simeq 1.3\rho_c); the variation is portrayed fairly well by generalized Debye-H\"{u}ckel theory (Lee and Fisher, 19 96). On approaching criticality at fixed ρ\rho or fixed TT, ξL(T,ρ)\xi_{\text{L}}(T, \rho) remains finite with ξLc0.30a1.3ξDc\xi_{\text{L}}^c \simeq 0.30 a \simeq 1.3 \xi_{\text {D}}^c but displays a weak entropy-like singularity.Comment: 4 pages 5 figure

The Small Scale Velocity Dispersion of Galaxies: A Comparison of Cosmological Simulations

The velocity dispersion of galaxies on small scales (r1h1r\sim1h^{-1} Mpc), σ12(r)\sigma_{12}(r), can be estimated from the anisotropy of the galaxy-galaxy correlation function in redshift space. We apply this technique to ``mock-catalogs'' extracted from N-body simulations of several different variants of Cold Dark Matter dominated cosmological models to obtain results which may be consistently compared to similar results from observations. We find a large variation in the value of σ12(1h1Mpc)\sigma_{12}(1 h^{-1} Mpc) in different regions of the same simulation. We conclude that this statistic should not be considered to conclusively rule out any of the cosmological models we have studied. We attempt to make the statistic more robust by removing clusters from the simulations using an automated cluster-removing routine, but this appears to reduce the discriminatory power of the statistic. However, studying σ12\sigma_{12} as clusters with different internal velocity dispersions are removed leads to interesting information about the amount of power on cluster and subcluster scales. We also compute the pairwise velocity dispersion directly and compare this to the values obtained using the Davis-Peebles method, and find that the agreement is fairly good. We evaluate the models used for the mean streaming velocity and the pairwise peculiar velocity distribution in the original Davis-Peebles method by comparing the models with the results from the simulations.Comment: 20 pages, uuencoded (Latex file + 8 Postscript figures), uses AAS macro

Entanglement in general two-mode continuous-variable states: local approach and mapping to a two-qubit system

We present a new approach to the analysis of entanglement in smooth bipartite continuous-variable states. One or both parties perform projective filterings via preliminary measurements to determine whether the system is located in some region of space; we study the entanglement remaining after filtering. For small regions, a two-mode system can be approximated by a pair of qubits and its entanglement fully characterized, even for mixed states. Our approach may be extended to any smooth bipartite pure state or two-mode mixed state, leading to natural definitions of concurrence and negativity densities. For Gaussian states both these quantities are constant throughout configuration space.Comment: 4 pages, RevTeX 4, one figure. Universality of Ionic Criticality: Size- and Charge-Asymmetric Electrolytes

Grand canonical simulations designed to resolve critical universality classes are reported for zz:1 hard-core electrolyte models with diameter ratios λ=a+/a6\lambda {=} a_+/a_- {\lesssim} 6. For z=1z {=} 1 Ising-type behavior prevails. Unbiased estimates of Tc(λ)T_c(\lambda) are within 1% of previous (biased) estimates but the critical densities are \sim 5 % lower. Ising character is also established for the 2:1 and 3:1 equisized models, along with critical amplitudes and improved TcT_c estimates. For z=3z {=} 3, however, strong finite-size effects reduce the confidence level although classical and O(n3)(n {\geq} 3) criticality are excluded.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure

Current-voltage scaling of chiral and gauge-glass models of two-dimensional superconductors

The scaling behavior of the current-voltage characteristics of chiral and gauge glass models of disordered superconductors, are studied numerically, in two dimensions. For both models, the linear resistance is nonzero at finite temperatures and the scaling analysis of the nonlinear resistivity is consistent with a phase transition at T=0 temperature characterized by a diverging correlation length ξTνT\xi \propto T^{-\nu_{T}} and thermal critical exponent νT\nu_{T}. The values of νT\nu_{T}, however, are found to be different for the chiral and gauge glass models, suggesting different universality classes, in contrast to the result obtained recently in three dimensions.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures (included), to appear in Phys. Eu0.5_{0.5}Sr1.5_{1.5}MnO4_4: a three-dimensional XY spin glass

The frequency, temperature, and dc-bias dependence of the ac-susceptibility of a high quality single crystal of the Eu0.5_{0.5}Sr1.5_{1.5}MnO4_4 layered manganite is investigated. Eu0.5_{0.5}Sr1.5_{1.5}MnO4_4 behaves like a XY spin glass with a strong basal anisotropy. Dynamical and static scalings reveal a three-dimensional phase transition near TgT_g = 18 K, and yield critical exponent values between those of Heisenberg- and Ising-like systems, albeit slightly closer to the Ising case. Interestingly, as in the latter system, the here observed rejuvenation effects are rather weak. The origin and nature of the low temperature XY spin glass state is discussed.Comment: REVTeX 4 style; 5 pages, 4 figure
