    Non-Markovian qubit dynamics in a circuit-QED setup

    Get PDF
We consider a circuit-QED setup that allows the induction and control of non-Markovian dynamics of a qubit. Non-Markovianity is enforced over the qubit by means of its direct coupling to a bosonic mode which is controllably coupled to other qubit-mode system. We show that this configuration can be achieved in a circuit-QED setup consisting of two initially independent superconducting circuits, each formed by one charge qubit and one transmission-line resonator, which are put in interaction by coupling the resonators to a current-biased Josephson junction. We solve this problem exactly and then proceed with a thorough investigation of the emergent non-Markovianity in the dynamics of the qubits. Our study might serve the context for a first experimental assessment of non-Markovianity in a multi-element solid-state device.Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures, slightly changed titl

Gender, education and reciprocal generosity: Evidence from 1,500 experiment subjects

There is not general consensus about if women are more or less generous than men. Although the number of papers supporting more generous females is a bit larger than the opposed it is not possible to establish any definitive and systematic gender bias. This paper provides new evidence on this topic using a unique experimental dataset. We used data from a field experiment conducted under identical conditions (and monetary payoffs) in 6 Latin American cities, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Caracas, Lima, Montevideo and San José. Our dataset amounted to 3,107 experimental subjects who played the Trust Game. We will analyze the determinants of behavior of second movers, that is, what determines reciprocal generosity. In sharp contrast to previous papers we found that males are more generous than females. In the light of this result, we carried out a systematic analysis of individual features (income, education, age, etc.) for females and males separately. We found differential motivations for women and men. Third, we see that (individual) education enhances prosocial behavior. Lastly, we see that subjects’ expectations are crucial.reciprocal altruism, gender, education

The Higgs decay rate to two photons in a model with two fermiophobic-Higgs doublets

We consider a three Higgs doublet model with an S3S_3 symmetry in which beside the SM-like doublet there are two fermiophobic doublets. Due to the new charged scalars there is an enhancement in the two-photon decay while the other channels have the same decay widths that the SM neutral Higgs. The fermiophobic scalars are mass degenerated unless soft terms breaking the S3S_3 symmetry are added.Comment: typos were corrected, the figures have been modified and the conclusions were increased.

Sensemaking of Digital Transformation in Organizations - A Case Study

    Get PDF
The increasing diffusion of digital technologies throughout industries and dimensions of life is transforming organizations. However, many organizations fail to develop a digital transformation strategy. This paper presents a theoretical sensemaking model of Digital Transformation (DT) and the preliminary outcomes of an ongoing study. The study is supported by socio-cognitive theories, including organizational sensemaking theory and its integration with technological frameworks to understand the development of DT in organizations. The findings of a pilot case study from the hotel industry provide evidence that this study could lead to a framework that could help understand DT from a socio-cognitive perspective. Additionally, the pilot case could be the basis for a broader framework, which could be used for other studies in this field, both for academics and practitioner

Competencia entre grupos, cooperación intragrupal y desempeño relativo

We report the results of a new public goods experiment with an intra-group cooperation dilemma and inter-group competition. In our design subjects receive information about their relative individual and group performance after each round with non-incentivized and then incentivized group competition. We found that, on average, individuals with low relative performance reduce their contributions to the public good, but groups with low performance increase theirs. With incentivized competition, where the relative ranking of the group increases individual payoffs, the reaction to relative performance is larger with individuals contributing more to the group; further, we observe that the variance of strategies decreases as individual and group rankings increase. These results offer new insights on how social comparison shapes similar reactions in games with different incentives for group performance and how competition and cooperation can influence each othe
