Temperature - pressure phase diagram of the superconducting iron pnictide LiFeP
Electrical-resistivity and magnetic-susceptibility measurements under
hydrostatic pressure up to p = 2.75 GPa have been performed on superconducting
LiFeP. A broad superconducting (SC) region exists in the temperature - pressure
(T-p) phase diagram. No indications for a spin-density-wave transition have
been found, but an enhanced resistivity coefficient at low pressures hints at
the presence of magnetic fluctuations. Our results show that the
superconducting state in LiFeP is more robust than in the isostructural and
isoelectronic LiFeAs. We suggest that this finding is related to the nearly
regular [FeP_4] tetrahedron in LiFeP.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Reduction of -Regular Noncrossing Partitions
In this paper, we present a reduction algorithm which transforms -regular
partitions of to -regular partitions of .
We show that this algorithm preserves the noncrossing property. This yields a
simple explanation of an identity due to Simion-Ullman and Klazar in connection
with enumeration problems on noncrossing partitions and RNA secondary
structures. For ordinary noncrossing partitions, the reduction algorithm leads
to a representation of noncrossing partitions in terms of independent arcs and
loops, as well as an identity of Simion and Ullman which expresses the Narayana
numbers in terms of the Catalan numbers
Evaluation of the antioxidant activity of Chinese Hickory (Carya cathayensis) kernel ethanol extraction
The kernel of Carya cathayensis Sarg. is a special local product and is widely used as a kind of food in China. In the present study, the antioxidant properties of the kernel including the ability to inhibit the autooxidation of linoleic acid, the reducing capacity, and the scavenging activity on the free radicals were evaluated. The results indicated that a kernel of C. cathayensis has effective antioxidant function, especially in superoxide anion scavenging activity
De Novo Genome Sequence of "Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum" from a Single Potato Psyllid in California.
The draft genome sequence of "Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum" strain RSTM from a potato psyllid (Bactericera cockerelli) in California is reported here. The RSTM strain has a genome size of 1,286,787Â bp, a G+C content of 35.1%, 1,211 predicted open reading frames (ORFs), and 43 RNA genes
High-capacity quantum secure direct communication based on quantum hyperdense coding with hyperentanglement
We present a quantum hyperdense coding protocol with hyperentanglement in
polarization and spatial-mode degrees of freedom of photons first and then give
the details for a quantum secure direct communication (QSDC) protocol based on
this quantum hyperdense coding protocol. This QSDC protocol has the advantage
of having a higher capacity than the quantum communication protocols with a
qubit system. Compared with the QSDC protocol based on superdense coding with
-dimensional systems, this QSDC protocol is more feasible as the preparation
of a high-dimension quantum system is more difficult than that of a two-level

Luminous Infrared Galaxies in the Local Universe
We study the morphology and star formation properties of 159 local luminous
infrared galaxy (LIRG) using multi-color images from Data Release 2 (DR2) of
the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). The LIRGs are selected from a
cross-correlation analysis between the IRAS survey and SDSS. They are all
brighter than 15.9 mag in the r-band and below redshift ~ 0.1, and so can be
reliably classified morphologically. We find that the fractions of
interacting/merging and spiral galaxies are ~ 48% and ~ 40% respectively. Our
results complement and confirm the decline (increase) in the fraction of spiral
(interacting/merging) galaxies from z ~1 to z ~ 0.1, as found by Melbourne, Koo
& Le Floc'h (2005). About 75% of spiral galaxies in the local LIRGs are barred,
indicating that bars may play an important role in triggering star formation
rates > 20 M_{sun}/yr in the local universe. Compared with high redshift LIRGs,
local LIRGs have lower specific star formation rates, smaller cold gas
fractions and a narrower range of stellar masses. Local LIRGs appear to be
either merging galaxies forming intermediate mass ellipticals or spiral
galaxies undergoing high star formation activities regulated by bars.Comment: 22 pages, 5 figures, accepted for publication in ApJ, title changed,
