    A levonorgestrel-containing intrauterine contraceptive devices are widely used in contemporary gynaecology, primarily as an effective method for contraception and for control of menstrual disorders like menorrhagia and dysmenorrhea. A case report of the uterine perforation by the levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine device (LNG-IUD) in a 33-year-old asymptomatic woman after an 18-month of insertion. On routine cervical smear examination, the LNG-IUD threads were not visualised through the cervical os.     Background: Aim of the study to contrast the effectiveness of misoprostol taken oral vs vaginal method, for the management of missed abortion in the early trimester, and to acknowledge misoprostol value in cervical dilatation before any surgical pregnancy termination, Methods: Comparing the efficacy of misoprostol, by vaginal and oral routes, for termination of first trimester missed abortion was conducted in the department of obstetrics and gynaecology, at DR B. R. Ambedkar medical college and hospital, Bangalore. 2 groups were made as group A and group B which had 24 participants in each group and a total of 48 participants, in which group A was given misoprostol 400 mcg orally, maximum up to 3 doses and group B was given misoprostol 400 mcg maximum up to 3 doses and outcome was documented. Primary outcome expecting drug-induced complete expulsion of products of conception (POCs). Secondary outcomes measured were induction expulsion interval, number of doses required, classification of failures, cervical canal permeability in women requiring surgical evacuation, side effects. Results: Both oral and vaginal routes are highly effective (oral=75%, vaginal=91.7%, p=2.400), safe and acceptable with tolerable side effects. The mean time to expulsion was longer (10.55 hours) in the oral than vaginal group (8.09 hours). All unsuccessful cases, 2 in vaginal group and 6 in oral group had permeable cervices prior to surgical evacuation. Most of the side effects were tolerable in both groups. Conclusions: Vaginal route of misoprostol is more effective than oral misoprostol for first trimester missed abortion.

    Effects of temperature and ground-state coherence decay on enhancement and amplification in a Δ\Delta atomic system

    We study phase-sensitive amplification of electromagnetically induced transparency in a warm 85{}^{85}Rb vapor wherein a microwave driving field couples the two lower-energy states of a {\Lambda} energy-level system thereby transforming into a {\Delta} system. Our theoretical description includes effects of ground-state coherence decay and temperature effects. In particular, we demonstrate that driving-field-enhanced electromagnetically induced transparency is robust against significant loss of coherence between ground states. We also show that for specific field intensities, a threshold rate of ground-state coherence decay exists at every temperature. This threshold separates the probe-transmittance behavior into two regimes: probe amplification vs probe attenuation. Thus, electromagnetically induced transparency plus amplification is possible at any temperature in a {\Delta} system

    Impact of Permeable Lining of the Wall on the Peristaltic Flow of Herschel Bulkley Fluid

    The peristaltic motion is modeled for the Herschel Bulkley fluid, considered to flow in a non-uniform inclined channel. The channel wall is supposed to be lined with a non-erodible porous material. The flow is considered to be moving in a wave frame of reference moving with same velocity as of the sinusoidal wave. Low Reynolds number and long wave length assumptions are made to solve the model. Analytical solution is obtained for the pressure difference and also for the frictional force. Graphs are plotted, using Mathematica software, for both the results of pressure difference and frictional force against time average velocity. We observe that increasing the porous thickening, increases the pressure difference while, it decreases the frictional force. It is seen that the behavior of the pressure difference is opposite to the behavior of the frictional force for all the parameters considered

    Rhesus (Rh) alloimmunization is potentially devastating for reproductive health. Rarely, RhD mismatched blood may be transfused accidentally, increasing the risks of RhD sensitization. Prevention of Rh sensitization is important especially in women of reproductive age group. Treatment with intravenous RhIg is potentially safe and also the effective means of preventing Rh alloimmunization in cases of Rh-mismatched blood transfusion. We report a case that illustrates the significantly high RhD antibody titers following treatment with intravenous Rh immunoglobulin for prevention of alloimmunization. An 18yo Rh-negative G0 had mistakenly received four units of Rh-positive blood. To avoid future pregnancy related complications, she received monotherapy with 13,200 μg total of intravenous Rh immunoglobulin (RhIg). The treatment was well tolerated; however the RhD antibody titers reached a peak of 1:512. The high levels of RhD antibody titers can have grave implications if the patient is pregnant

    The effect of substituted benzene dicarboxylic acid linkers on the optical band gap energy and magnetic coupling in manganese trimer metal organic frameworks

    We have systematically studied a series of eight metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) in which the secondary building unit is a manganese trimer cluster, and the linkers are differently substituted benzene dicarboxylic acids (BDC). The optical band gap energy of the compounds vary from 2.62 eV to 3.57 eV, and theoretical studies find that different functional groups result in new states in the conduction band, which lie in the gap and lower the optical band gap energy. The optical absorption between the filled Mn 3d states and the ligands is weak due to minimal overlap of the states, and the measured optical band gap energy is due to transitions on the BDC linker. The Mn atoms in the MOFs have local moments of 5 mu B, and selected MOFs are found to be antiferromagnetic, with weak coupling between the cluster units, and paramagnetic above 10 K
