Water-Power in the East

The article discusses "The Real Meaning of Conservation", "The Situation in New York", "Too Much Water and Too Little". The author mentions that "Conservation of water-power as it exists in actual practise does not mean the locking up of water-power against the public. It means the throwing open of that power to full development - dry season as well as rainy, not just a tenth of the possible power, but ten-tenths of the possible power; not just to the profit of one per cent of the population or two or three units of capital, but to the profit of every living soul in the State where that water-power exists. Conservation is not demanding that water-power be conserved in the West for the East, but that water-power be conserved in the West for the West, and in the East for the East.

Perancangan Buku Panduan Kreasi Sajian Sayur Yang Menarik Untuk Anak-Anak

Sayuran merupakan bahan makanan yang memiliki peran yang penting dalam masa pertumbuhan. Masa pertumbuhan adalah masa dimana seorang anak membutuhkan gizi dan nutrisi yang seimbang. Sayur mengandung berbagai macam vitamin dan mineral. Konsumsi sayur yang kurang dapat memicu penyakit. Ketidaksukaan anak akan sayur umumnya disebabkan beberapa hal, salah satunya minimnya kreativitas orang tua dalam mengolah sayuran menjadi suatu sajian yang menarik bagi anak. Oleh karena itu, buku panduan ini dirancang untuk membantu orang tua dalam mengkreasikan sajian sayur yang menarik untuk anak-anaknya. Selain itu, di dalam buku ini juga terdapat penjelasan mengenai pentingnya sayur dan panduan visualisasi bagi orang awam. Dengan adanya perancangan ini, diharapkan dapat membantu orang tua dalam mengkreasikan sajian sayur untuk anaknya dan anak dapat menjadi lebih gemar untuk mengkonsumsi sayu

Increasing the effective participation of women in food and nutrition security in Africa

What can be done to increase the effective participation of women in food and nutrition security in Africa? This brief advocates a two-pronged approach. First, eradicate discrimination against women, and second, promote catch-up by implementing more active measures in key areas such as control over land, water, and other assets, and investment in education, health, child care, and other services for women. An ethnographic study of family, livelihoods and women's everyday lives in Dakar, Senegal

This thesis explores competing meanings of being a woman in Dakar, Senegal. Above all, it is concerned with the relationship between livelihoods – how ordinary Dakarois make ends meet – and women’s gendered identities. It explores the full spectrum of Dakar women’s economic activities, all the while keeping the definition of what, precisely, qualifies as ‘economic’ or as ‘work’ as open as possible. Distancing itself from approaches that privilege the sexual aspects of gender, this thesis asks what kinds of gendered economic identities emerge in the context of the various roles and relationships that constitute women’s everyday lives. What do women do that enables people in this society to get by and to secure their day-­‐to-­‐day needs? How are these activities experienced, and what kind of values are they imbued with? Based on three years’ fieldwork in low-­‐income neighbourhoods across the Dakar region, the thesis advances an ethnographic analysis of women’s roles as wives and girlfriends, sisters and sisters-­‐in-­‐law, daughters, mothers and grandmothers, and members of extended family and community networks. It explores women’s activities as dependents, consumers, providers and informal-­‐sector workers. Together, the chapters shed light on the complexities and contradictions involved in being a woman in this particular part of the world. Building on the ethnographic findings, this thesis argues that it is possible to identify two distinct, even competing conceptions of being a woman in Dakar. One of these can be framed in terms of ‘materialism’, the other around the emic concept of ‘mothering work’. Dakar women, this thesis suggests, draw on both in order to create, defend and challenge the meaning and the value of their everyday experiences

Trends and tendencies in management consulting in light of local and international development

The field of management consulting is now over 100 years old, but there are definite gaps in information about the size and nature of this field at the national, regional, and global levels. The aim of our contribution is to analyze the major trends in management consulting in Hungary and contrast the findings with those reported by FEACO, the European Federation of Management Consulting. The authors were and are actively involved in assmebling data for Hungary, for the EU, and at the global level. We include a brief bird's eye-view on the evolution of this important professional sector.
