The authors have investigated sustainable environment delivery systems and identified transportation lead-time investigation cases. This research study aimed to increase freight delivery lead-time and minimize distance in transportation. To reach the goal, the paper\u27s authors, after analysis of the hierarchy of quantitative methods and models, proposed the framework for modeling freight allocation and transportation lead-time and delivered a study that includes discrete event simulation. During the simulation, various scenarios have been revised. Following the simulation mentioned above analysis, around 3.8 % of distance could be saved during freight delivery if lead-time for transportation were revised by choosing five days criteria for modeling freight allocation. The savings depend on the number of received orders from different geographic locations

When analysing social and economic situation, a number of interrelated primary data and indexes defining the process development are used. In order to evaluate the situation and make decisions, the process of knowledge revelation is applied. It allows evaluating the main factors and choosing a field for direct investment in Lithuanian regions. In order to achieve these aims, integrated methods of factor and component analysis were applied. These models allowed calculating the main data of multi-dimensional nature and briefly and simply explain data structures with a number of variables. With assistance of factors and the main components, they showed the reality as well as the regularity directly unobserved. The cluster analysis of 1996–2001 showed that regions near big cities and main industry factories achieved higher development levels. This is why they are important for Lithuanian economy. The statistical analysis shows that the policy of investments should be amended and legal and economic directives regulating investment should be elaborated, since without these measures, investments will concentrate in regions next to the major cities and factories thus increasing the gap between the major cities and periphery towns, what contradicts to the idea of sustainable development. The research revealed that residents’ education is the main indicator to influence the development of information technologies and the technical progress of municipalities and identify the uneven development of cities and regions

Energy Efficiency Improvement Potential in Historical Brick Building

Energy efficiency in historical heritage buildings is viewed as a taboo because these buildings usually are law-protected and no energy efficiency measures that would change the appearance of building are allowed. In this paper we look at a potential of increasing energy efficiency level in historical buildings. Measurements to determine energy efficiency of a historical brick building have been done, which also give the possibility to determine the potential of energy efficiency measures in this building

The authors of the book have come to the conclusion that it is necessary to effectively use modern approaches to developing and implementation strategies of sustainable socio-economic development in order to increase efficiency and competitiveness of economic entities. Basic research focuses on economic diagnostics of socio-economic potential and financial results of economic entities, transition period in the economy of individual countries and ensuring their competitiveness, assessment of educational processes and knowledge management. The research results have been implemented in the different models and strategies of supply and logistics management, development of non-profit organizations, competitiveness of tourism and transport, financing strategies for small and medium-sized enterprises, cross-border cooperation. The results of the study can be used in decision-making at the level the economic entities in different areas of activity and organizational-legal forms of ownership, ministries and departments that promote of development the economic entities on the basis of models and strategies for sustainable socio-economic development. The results can also be used by students and young scientists in modern concepts and mechanisms for management of sustainable socio-economic development of economic entities in the condition of global economic transformations and challenges
