Deepening integration coordinates of the European Assembly
The European economic integration is, by its nature, a very complex and multilateral process, representing a wide area for multidisciplinary studies and research. At the same time, in the current context, the European integration acquires new additional valences, reason for which we can say that the significance of issues related to its manifestation is not diminishing but rather increases. Considering the importance and topical of the researched subject, this paper aims to present and highlight the complexity of deepening as a fundamental dimension of European economic integration, and possible consequences resulting from its implementation
EMU ā āOptimumā or āViableā Currency Area?
Although the increasing heterogeneity as an effect of European Union enlargement, referring especially to the last two waves, is perceived as a single internal market and also euro single currency risk, European Monetary Union represents an important step towards deepening economic integration. Controversy on the Optimum Currency Area issue has created difficulties in empirical research effort to find appropriate responses to the EMU dilemma: is Euro zone an āoptimumā or rather āviableā currency area
The National Bank of Romania monetary policy characteristics in addition to the current financial crisis
Considering the starting point for research the Central Bank key role in economic life, through the implementation of the monetary policy, by exercising prudential control and supervision of commercial banks, the present paper proposes an analysis of the National Bank of Romania monetary policy coordinates in the frame of the increased intensification harsh effects of the global economic crisis
ASPECTS OF FINANCIAL EQUILIBRIUM ANALYSIS AND ITS IMPLICATIONS IN MANAGEMENT DECISIONS
Considering the impact of risk factors in the economic environment, this study provides to all users of financial information a possible pattern for analyzing the financial equilibrium, designed to clarify the importance of dynamic analysis of indicators characterizing the financial equilibrium of an enterprise, expressed on absolute values, especially for managers in decision-making on future work, aimed at achieving pre-established strategic and tactical objectives. Practice has shown that the management cannot be based on intuition and routine but on a scientific analysis, on a thorough knowledge of the existing situation, as well as on the identification of vulnerabilities and opportunities for development. In order to promote a rational policy concerning business growth and achieving economic and financial satisfactory results, the companyās management grants a special importance to the financial diagnosis. The support of financial analysis is the balance sheet that allows developing financial diagnosis on the financial equilibrium conditions and creditworthiness, objectives that allow the evaluation of the independence of the firm and its market value
THE ECONOMIC RISK IN TRADING COMPANIESā VALUATION
The negative influence of internal and external factors on the enterpriseās operating activity may lead to the realization of losses and economic-financial imbalance of the enterprise. Such situation leads to the economic risk, which can be avoided by diagnosis analysis. The manifestation of the economic risk has repercussions in: obtaining profit from operating activities, the maximization of the enterpriseās value and the increase of the market share. The operational risk can be detected by the method of forecast analysis ācost-volume-profitā or via coefficient of lever exploitation. This paper aims, on the basis of the information of a commerce company, to reveal the influence of risk in assessing the enterprise, as well as the possibilities to maximize its value and the increase in economic and financial performance in a competitive environment. The results of the research demonstrate the impact of the circulating expenditure structure on the enterpriseās financial results, as well as on equity
What Does Engineering Ethics Involve?
This paper aims at elucidating and concluding information on engineering ethics, rights
of engineers versus employee rights. This theoretical objective was achieved by the
bibliographic study of some reference works in the field. The objective of the qualitative
research is to identify the engineering studentsā and master degree studentsā perceptions
regarding professional ethics and the environment that most influence their behavior at
work
Tool for Drought Monitoring in the Danube Region: ā Methods and Preliminary Developments
Drought is a naturally recurring phenomenon of the climate system that affects virtually all regions of the world. During the past decades extreme droughts with extensive negative effects on ecosystems became evident also in the Danube region. At the moment regional capacity to monitor drought is still very diverse and not synchronised among different countries. In this is paper, we present a recently developed drought monitoring tool ā the Drought User Service (DUS) for the Danube region using remote-sensing products which aims at offering a more accurate and in near-real-time monitoring via different drought indices. The DUS was created as the monitoring tool of the risk-based paradigm, which seeks to give information in near real-time about the location and severity of droughts throughout the Danube region. Satellite remote sensing products meet the requirements for operational monitoring because they are able to offer continuous and consistent measurements of variables, which can be used to assess the severity, spatial extent and impacts of drought. In the DUS three different variables ā vegetation, soil moisture and precipitation ā are monitored with earth observation products. The condition of vegetation and soil moisture is tracked with two simple indicators computed as long-term anomalies of the NDVI and SWI products made available through EUās Copernicus Global Land Service. The importance of DUS and of the developed methods for faster detection of drought onset as useful foundation for establishing a better pro-active drought management in order to mitigate the negative effects of drought in the region is discussed
Geomorphology study of Bahluiet cathment from Moldavian plateau
This study is intended to review the geomorphological basin Bahluiet for determining the height and slope exposure.
This stage is important in terms of erosion and methods to combat them. Studies on problems of soil erosion have
become current because reduction of agricultural areas and of the phenomenon in declining of productivity. Among the
factors that influence the erosion we can mention landscape, climatic conditions, soil type, vegetation and human
activity. The landscape has a special role because it influences water movement on slopes, water being the active
separation, dispersion and transport of soil particles factor. Within each river basin, soil erosion varies depending on
slope characteristics (shape, angle, length, exhibition, area) being lower or stronger. Based on detailed study of the
natural environment and categories of usage, is established the method for reduction of soil erosion. In this study, we
determine the maps for the slope categories, the share of the slope exhibitions and also the structure of the categories of
usage in the considered river basins perimeter

Combination of Bortezomib and Mitotic Inhibitors Down-Modulate Bcr-Abl and Efficiently Eliminates Tyrosine-Kinase Inhibitor Sensitive and Resistant Bcr-Abl-Positive Leukemic Cells
Emergence of resistance to Tyrosine-Kinase Inhibitors (TKIs), such as imatinib, dasatinib and nilotinib, in Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) demands new therapeutic strategies. We and others have previously established bortezomib, a selective proteasome inhibitor, as an important potential treatment in CML. Here we show that the combined regimens of bortezomib with mitotic inhibitors, such as the microtubule-stabilizing agent Paclitaxel and the PLK1 inhibitor BI2536, efficiently kill TKIs-resistant and -sensitive Bcr-Abl-positive leukemic cells. Combined treatment activates caspases 8, 9 and 3, which correlate with caspase-induced PARP cleavage. These effects are associated with a marked increase in activation of the stress-related MAP kinases p38MAPK and JNK. Interestingly, combined treatment induces a marked decrease in the total and phosphorylated Bcr-Abl protein levels, and inhibits signaling pathways downstream of Bcr-Abl: downregulation of STAT3 and STAT5 phosphorylation and/or total levels and a decrease in phosphorylation of the Bcr-Abl-associated proteins CrkL and Lyn. Moreover, we found that other mitotic inhibitors (Vincristine and Docetaxel), in combination with bortezomib, also suppress the Bcr-Abl-induced pro-survival signals and result in caspase 3 activation. These results open novel possibilities for the treatment of Bcr-Abl-positive leukemias, especially in the imatinib, dasatinib and nilotinib-resistant CML cases
