Grain Boundary Wetting and Material Performance in an Industrial EZ33A Mg Cast Alloy
The grain boundary wetting phase transition in an industrial EZ33A cast alloy is studied. 12% of the grain boundaries are completely wetted at the temperature slightly higher than the eutectic transformation temperature (530°C). The fraction of wetted grain boundaries increases with temperature, reaches a maximum of 85% at 570°C, and does not change further until the alloy melts. In the as-cast state, the alloy has low ductile properties at the ambient temperature. The microstructure in the as-cast state corresponds to the wetting state at about 560°C, which indicates that the cooling rate in casting is almost equal to that in quenching. The volume and the surface fraction of the second phase and the hardness measured at the least wetted state of samples point toits good machinability. The wetting data are used to suggest a sequence of heat treatment and machining for processing EZ33A alloy parts
Mikrostruktura i właściwości mechaniczne stopu Mg-2.5%Tb-0.78%Sm po procesie ECAP i starzeniu
The influence of ageing and Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-2.5%Tb-0.78%Sm alloy has been examined. The microhardness changes during ageing at 200ºC show a slight increase. The aged microstructure at maximum hardness contains Mg12(Tb,Sm) - metastable β’ phase of size about 2-10 nm as dispersed precipitates. The orientation relationship between β’ phase and the matrix was found as follows: (0001) Mg || (110) β′, [2110] Mg || [116] β′. The ECAP passes were performed by two procedures: “I” - four passes at 350ºC; “II” - one pass at 370ºC, second pass at 340ºC and third pass at 310ºC. The grain size was reduced about 200 times as a results of ECAP process according “I” and “II” procedure. The grain refinement by ECAP improves significantly the compression yield strength and hardness. The Hall-Petch relationship was confirmed basing on microhardness measurements and the grain size after ECAP. The Mg 24 (Tb,Sm) 5 and Mg 41 (Sm,Tb) 5 particles smaller than 150 nm are located mainly at grain and subgrain boundaries and they prevent grain growth during ECAP processing. The microstructure evolution during ECAP can be described as dynamic recovery and continuous and discontinuous dynamic recrystallization.W pracy przeprowadzono badania mikrostruktury i właściwosci mechanicznych stopu Mg-2,5%Tb-0,78%Sm po procesie starzenia oraz po odkształceniu plastycznym metoda ECAP. Starzenie stopu w temperaturze 200ºC powoduje niewielki wzrost mikrotwardości. Mikrostruktura stopu starzonego o maksymalnej wartości twardości zawiera metastabilne drobnodyspersyjne wydzielenia Mg12 (Tb,Sm) - β′ o wielkości 2-10 nm. Roztwór stały α-Mg wykazuje następujące zależności krystalograficzne z wydzielonymi cząstkami β′: (0001) Mg || (110) β′, [2110] Mg || [116] β′. Odkształcenie plastyczne metoda ECAP przeprowadzono stosując dwie procedury: „I” - cztery przejścia w 350ºC, „II” - pierwsze w 370ºC, drugie w 340ºC i trzecie przejście w 310ºC.
The aim of this work was to investigate the influence of the number of equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) passes on the microstructure and mechanical properties of AZ31 magnesium alloy. The microstructure after two and four passes of ECAP at 423 and 523 K was investigated by means of optical and transmission electron microscopy. The mechanical properties were carried out using Vickers microhardness measurements and compression test. The grain refinement in AZ31 alloy was obtained using ECAP routes down to 1,5 _m at 423 K. Processes of dynamic recrystallization during ECAP were observed. It was found that a gradual decrease of grain size occurs with the increasing of number of ECAP passes. The grain refinement increases mechanical properties at ambient temperature, such as Vickers microhardness and compression strength proportionally to d-0:5.Celem niniejszej pracy było określenie wpływu ilości przejść przez kanał kątowy na mikrostrukturę i właściwości mechaniczne stopu magnezu AZ31. Zmniejszenie wielkości ziarna w procesie ECAP powoduje zwiększenie właściwości mechanicznych stopu AZ31 w temperaturze pokojowej odwrotnie proporcjonalnie do √ d
The possibilities of dentition reconstruction with the use of bicortical implants : review of literature
retencji protez ruchomych). Obok powszechnie stosowanych
implantów śródkostnych bazowanych na systemie Brånemarka
swoje miejsce znalazły również implanty bikortykalne, oparte
o dwie blaszki istoty zbitej, co warunkuje odmienności biomechaniczne
oraz kliniczne pracy z tego typu wszczepami. Mogą
być one stosowane do odbudowy braków zębowych o rozmaitej
etiologii (choroba próchnicowa, periodontopatie, urazy) z bardzo
dobrą skutecznością i stanowią alternatywę dla tradycyjnych
systemów implantologicznych.Nowadays, implantology is the basic metod of prosthetic
supply of patients with dental deficiencies. It enables both
prosthodontic rehabilitation and reconstruction. Implants are
primarly biocompatible and of vast clinical application (both
as pillars for fixed prosthesis and as an additional retention for
mobile ones). Besides the commonly used intraosseus implants
based on Brånemark’s system, bicortical implants were brought
to stomatology. Since they rest on both layers of lamina dura,
their biomechanics as well as clinical approach differs. They can
be used to reconstuct teeth loss of a variety of aetiology (caries,
periodontitis, traumas) with very high efficacy and constitute an
alternatice to traditional implant systems
Laparoscopic embryo transfer in pigs - comparison of different variants and efficiencies of the method
The aim of the study was to develop a method of laparoscopic embryo transfer in pigs and to compare different variants of this method. Two catheter diameters (1.6 mm and 1.0 mm), the method and site of embryo deposition (oviduct or uterus), the embryo development stage (2 – 4 cell or blastocyst), the method for oviduct or uterus stabilization, the potential for cryopreserved embryo transfer, the developmental potential of the embryos after transfer to the oviduct, patomorphology of the oviduct after transfer and possible clinical complications were taken into consideration. Two studies compared two variants of transfer to the uterus, and five variants of transfer to the fallopian tube. The transfer of embryos by the infundibulum may be of limited use due to handling problems and very low efficiency (pregnancy was not achieved). Very low efficiency was shown after transfer of vitrified embryos. Transfer to the fallopian tube by puncture of the fallopian tube, regardless of the developmental stage of the embryo, is the recommended method of embryo transfer. The histopathological examination of the fallopian tube revealed possible changes within the puncture site. The numerous clinical complications observed did not affect the effectiveness of the method
