In my last Editorial for the European Journal of Psychological Assessment, entitled Tradition and Innovation (Westmeyer, 2006), I invited distinguished scholars in the field of psychological assessment to submit "contributions that address innovative methods off the beaten track" (p. 2). Therefore, I was very pleased when two leading members of the European Network for Ambulatory Assessment, Ulrich Ebner-Priemer and Thomas Kubiak, suggested the publication in the European Journal of Psychological Assessment of a Special Issue on Advances in the Methodology of Ambulatory Assessment and announced the submission of seven manuscripts dealing with various aspects of ambulatory assessment. Ambulatory assessment is not a completely new development. Self-monitoring procedures, systematic behavior observation devices, or computer-assisted assessment, to name only a few elements of the broad spectrum of methods applied in ambulatory assessment, have been with us for several decades. But the ambulatory assessment approach brought these diverse and often separate developments together, and is on its way to become an influential movement in the field of psychological assessment that challenges traditional ideas, methods, and procedures. I hope that these contributions will make the ambulatory assessment movement known to an even wider audience and promote the practice and scientific study of ambulatory assessment procedures

Item does not contain fulltextThis study examines the full-length, short and abbreviated forms of the Revised Junior Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (JEPQ-R) in a Dutch sample of 215 boys and 207 girls, aged 12–14. The reliability and concurrent validity of the scales of the full-length form (JEPQ-R, 81 items), short form (JEPQR-S, 48 items) and abbreviated form (JEPQR-A, 24 items) are satisfactory. Results indicate that the short and abbreviated forms can be recommended as functional equivalents to the 89-item full-length JEPQ-R when the research context does not permit the application of the longer instrument. The need for further examination and development of the short and abbreviated Psychoticism scale is emphasized and other recommendations for future research are given
