Moduli Spaces of Embedded Constant Mean Curvature Surfaces with Few Ends and Special Symmetry

We give necessary conditions on complete embedded \cmc surfaces with three or four ends subject to reflection symmetries. The respective submoduli spaces are two-dimensional varieties in the moduli spaces of general \cmc surfaces. Ein neuer Insekten-Rest (Megasecoptera) aus dem Ober-Karbon von Osnabrück

Ein neuer isolierter Insekten-Flügel aus dem Westfalium D vom Piesberg N' Osnabrück gehört zu einer neuen Art: Aspidothorax aestatis n. sp. (Megasecoptera: Aspidothoracidae). Diese ist nahe verwandt mit Aspidothorax triangularis BRONGNIART 1894 aus dem Stephanium B von Commentry (Zentral-Frankreich), unterscheidet sich aber vor allem durch (1) den weniger deutlich markierten Apex, (2) die breitere Praeradial-Area, (3) die ungeteilten Adern MP- und CuP- sowie (4) die unregelmäßiger angeordneten Queradern.A new isolated insect wing from the Westphalian D sequence of the Piesberg N' Osnabrück (Lower Saxony, West Germany) belongs to a new species, Aspidothorax aestatis n. sp. (Megasecoptera: Aspidothoracidae). Der Schwertschwanz Euproops (Xiphosurida, Limulina, Euproopacea) aus dem Ober-Karbon des Piesbergs bei Osnabrück

Xiphosuriden (Schwertschwänze) sind in einigen Fazies-Bereichen des Ober- Karbons (Silesium) recht weit verbreitet und an einigen wenigen FundsteIlen sogar häufig. Im paralisehen Ober-Karbon West-Deutschlands sind sie jedoch sehr selten. Vor kurzem ist nun ein neues Opisthosoma der Xiphosuren-Gattung Euproops in Gesteinen des Westfalium 0 vom Piesberg nördlich Osnabrücks gefunden worden, das wahrscheinlich konspezifisch ist mit den 4 schon früher an derselben Lokalität aufgesammelten Stücken (BÖLSCHE 1875; BOEKSCHOTEN 1968). Die Erhaltung aller Stücke vom Piesberg erlaubt jedoch keine genauere Bestimmung als Euproops sp. In diesem Zusammenhang wird auch darauf hingewiesen, daß noch erhebliche Schwierigkeiten hinsichtlich der infragenerischen Systematik von Euproops bestehen, da noch nicht genügend bekannt ist über die spezifische Variabilität und Ontogenie dieser merkmalsarmen Gattung. Nach den neuen Untersuchungen über die Lebensweise von Euproops danae durch FISHER (1979) dürfte auch die Euproops-Form vom Piesberg weitgehend subaerisch gelebt haben.Xiphosurans (horseshoe crabs) are rather widespread in some Upper Carboniferous (Silesian) facies types and even abundant at few localities, but they are very rare in the paralic Upper Carboniferous of West Germany. Recently, a new opisthosoma of the xiphosuran genus Euproops has been found in rocks of Westphalian 0 age of the Piesberg N' Osnabrück, which is believed to be conspecific with the 4 specimens formerly collected at the same locality (BÖLSCHE 1875; BOEKSCHOTEN 1968). But according to their preservation, the Piesberg specimens can only be determined as Euproops sp. In connection to this fact, it is also shown that there are still some problems in the infrageneric systematics of Euproops, because little has been done to research the specific variability and ontogeny of this only featureless genus.
