Bright tripartite entanglement in triply concurrent parametric oscillation

We show that a novel optical parametric oscillator, based on concurrent $\chi^{(2)}$ nonlinearities, can produce, above threshold, bright output beams of macroscopic intensities which exhibit strong tripartite continuous-variable entanglement. We also show that there are {\em two} ways that the system can exhibit a new three-mode form of the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen paradox, and calculate the extra-cavity fluctuation spectra that may be measured to verify our predictions.Comment: title change, expanded intro and discussion of experimental aspects, 1 new figure. Remodelling of the natural product fumagillol employing a reaction discovery approach

In the search for new biologically active molecules, diversity-oriented synthetic strategies break through the limitation of traditional library synthesis by sampling new chemical space. Many natural products can be regarded as intriguing starting points for diversity-oriented synthesis, wherein stereochemically rich core structures may be reorganized into chemotypes that are distinctly different from the parent structure. Ideally, to be suited to library applications, such transformations should be general and involve few steps. With this objective in mind, the highly oxygenated natural product fumagillol has been successfully remodelled in several ways using a reaction-discovery-based approach. In reactions with amines, excellent regiocontrol in a bis-epoxide opening/cyclization sequence can be obtained by size-dependent interaction of an appropriate catalyst with the parent molecule, forming either perhydroisoindole or perhydroisoquinoline products. History of the Strike-Lockout Distinction of Pennsylvania\u27s Unemployment Compensation Law

This article provides an analysis of the legislative changes to the labor dispute disqualification of the Pennsylvania Unemployment Compensation Law since its enactment in 1936, culminating in the lockout exception in 1949. This article attempts to provide a historical analysis while at the same time focusing on areas of controversy and litigation pertaining to labor dispute disqualification, particularly the judicially created concepts of status quo and reasonable time. Each area is discussed and specific changes in the interpretation of the law are suggested where warranted in the hope of fostering uniformity and consistency, thereby reducing the number of labor disputes in Pennsylvania while at the same time forming a body of law upon which interested parties may rely
