Nonlinear interferometer for tailoring the frequency spectrum of bright squeezed vacuum
We propose a method for tailoring the frequency spectrum of bright squeezed
vacuum by generating it in a nonlinear interferometer, consisting of two
down-converting nonlinear crystals separated by a dispersive medium. Due to a
faster dispersive spreading of higher-order Schmidt modes, the spectral width
of the radiation at the output is reduced as the length of the dispersive
medium is increased. Preliminary results show 30\% spectral narrowing.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figure
Pion and Kaon dissociation in hot quark medium
Pion and kaon dissociation in a medium of hot quark matter is studied in the
Nambu Jona-Lasinio model. The decay width of pion and kaon are found to be
large but finite at temperatures much higher than the so called critical
temperature of chiral or deconfinement transition, kaon decay width being
larger. Consequently, pions and even kaons (with a lower density compared to
pions) should coexist with quarks and gluons at such high temperatures. The
implication of the above result in the study of Quark-Gluon plasma is

Model-Independent Semileptonic Form Factors Using Dispersion Relations
We present a method for parametrizing heavy meson semileptonic form factors
using dispersion relations, and from it produce a two-parameter description of
the B -> B elastic form factor. We use heavy quark symmetry to relate this
function to B -> D* l nu form factors, and extract
|V_cb|=0.0355^{+0.0029}_{-0.0025} from experimental data with a least squares
fit. Our method eliminates model-dependent uncertainties inherent in choosing a
parametrization for the extrapolation of the differential decay rate to

Critical Behavior of J/psi across the Phase Transition from QCD sum rules
We study behavior of J/psi in hot gluonic matter using
QCD sum rules. Taking into account temperature dependences of the gluon
condensates extracted from lattice thermodynamics for the pure SU(3) system, we
find that the mass and width of J/psi exhibit rapid change across the critical

Interior Point Decoding for Linear Vector Channels
In this paper, a novel decoding algorithm for low-density parity-check (LDPC)
codes based on convex optimization is presented. The decoding algorithm, called
interior point decoding, is designed for linear vector channels. The linear
vector channels include many practically important channels such as inter
symbol interference channels and partial response channels. It is shown that
the maximum likelihood decoding (MLD) rule for a linear vector channel can be
relaxed to a convex optimization problem, which is called a relaxed MLD
problem. The proposed decoding algorithm is based on a numerical optimization
technique so called interior point method with barrier function. Approximate
variations of the gradient descent and the Newton methods are used to solve the
convex optimization problem. In a decoding process of the proposed algorithm, a
search point always lies in the fundamental polytope defined based on a
low-density parity-check matrix. Compared with a convectional joint message
passing decoder, the proposed decoding algorithm achieves better BER
performance with less complexity in the case of partial response channels in

Determination of B*B pi coupling in unquenched QCD
The coupling is a fundamental parameter of chiral effective
Lagrangian with heavy-light mesons and can constrain the chiral behavior of
, and the form factor in the soft pion limit. We
compute the coupling with the static heavy quark and the
-improved Wilson light quark. Simulations are carried out with
unquenched lattices at and
lattices at generated by CP-PACS collaboration. To improve the
statistical accuracy, we employ the all-to-all propagator technique and the
static quark action with smeared temporal link variables following the quenched
study by Negishi {\it et al.}. These methods successfully work also on
unquenched lattices, and determine the coupling with 1--2%
statistical accuracy on each lattice spacing.Comment: 19pages,26figure
