    Determination of Ethanol Content in Fuels with Phononic Crystal Sensor

    Introduction. In-line analysis of ethanol content in gasoline blends is currently one of the urgent needs of fuel industry. Developing safe and secure approaches is critical for real applications. A phononic crystal sensor have been introduced as an innovative approach to high performance gasoline sensing. Distinguishing feature of proposed sensor is the absence of any electrical contact with analysed gasoline blend, which allows the use of sensors directly in pipelines without the risk of explosion in an emergency.Aim. Investigation of the possibilities of using phononic sensor structures to determine the ethanol content in liquid hydrocarbons.Materials and methods. A theoretical analysis of sensor structure was carried out on the basis of numerical simulation using COMSOL Multiphysics software. For measurement, substances of ordinary gasoline and gasoline 63–80 with ethanol concentrations in the range of 1–10 % by volume in increments of 2 % were prepared. The phononic crystal sensor was designed as a stainless steel plate with cylindrical holes and a resonant cavity, formed as a running across the wave propagation path slit between two lattices.Results. In-line analysis of measuring the concentration of ethanol in alcohol-containing fuels on a phononic crystal structure with a resonant cavity was carried out. Using the Agilent4395A admittance meter, the transmission spectra of longitudinal acoustic waves through the gasoline-filled sensor structure with were obtained. The non-linear correlation between the composition and the speed of sound of the blend is presented in the article is due to the ability to reduce the speed of sound of the mixture with an increase in ethanol concentration in the range of 0–10 % by volume.Conclusion. A measurement structure on the basis of phononic crystal was created. The measurements of various gasoline-ethanol mixtures show that the sensor has significant sensitivity (0.91 kHz/ms−1 ) with quality factor of 200) to distinguish between regular fuels, gasoline based blends and the presence of additives in standard fuels. The sensor has prospects for in-line analyzes the composition of liquid hydrocarbons.Introduction.     Dynamics of vegetative, insomnia and neuropsychological manifestations during the treatment of post-COVID syndrome

    Introduction. Asthenia, vegetative manifestations, sleep disturbances and psycho-emotional background are companions of the coronavirus infection, the issue of drug correction of which is especially relevant. These symptoms disrupt the habitual way of life of patients for a long time, and in special cases lead to disability.Aim. To study the mental, somatoform and cognitive aspects of anxiety disorders after coronavirus infection during treatment with tofisopam (Grandaxin®) 150 mg/day.Materials and methods. The study included patients who had experienced a new coronavirus infection, who, after the end of treatment for the underlying disease, had complaints suggesting the presence of an anxiety disorder. The Hamilton scale was used to assess the level of anxiety. Examination of patients was carried out before the start of treatment, after 2, 4 and 6 weeks of therapy.Results and discussion. Prior to the start of therapy, all patients had an overall high level of anxiety: the average HAM-A score was 31.4 ± 2.92 points. At the end of Grandaxin® therapy, all patients showed a decrease in the level of anxiety: the average HAM-A score was 12.08 ± 2.27 points (p < 0.001). The maximum decrease in the severity of vegetative disorders was noted by the end of the 6th week of therapy with Grandaxin®. Thus, the indicator of this subscale decreased by more than 2 times – from 2.46 ± 0.54 to 1.05 ± 0.28 points (p < 0.001). The severity of insomnia during six weeks of therapy with Grandaxin® decreased from 2.56 ± 0.54 to 0.96 ± 0.45 points (p < 0.001).Conclusion. Psycho-emotional disorders (more often in the form of increased personal anxiety), sleep disorders, vegetative disorders, asthenic syndrome significantly affect the quality of life of patients who have had a new coronavirus infection. Involvement of the structures of the autonomic nervous system and central structures that regulate GABAergic transmission leads to significant vegetative failures, which requires pathogenetically substantiated drug correction of these disorders

    Efficacy of rehabilitation therapy on hospital stage of treatment of patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis

    Objective. To assess efficacy of hospital stage of treatment including rehabilitation methods in pts with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) evaluating changes of some measures of functional status at admission and at discharge. Material and methods. 56 pts with different variants of JIA admitted to the pediatric department of the Institute of Rheumatology of RAMS and treated with medicaments and rehabilitation methods. Correction of anti-inflammatory therapy influencing functional status (NSAIDs dose increase, intra-articular injections of glucocorticoids) was done in 36 pts. In the rest of pts treatment with DMARDs was changed. Mean duration of hospital stay was 20 days. At admission and at discharge following measures were recorded: pain on VAS, dynamometry, 25 m walking time, contracture angle and amplitude of movement of joint causing disability and treated with rehabilitation methods (mean summated measures were assessed, localization was not considered). Results. Significant change of pain (29,04 mm+2,9 mm vs 9,92 mm±l,6 mm), contracture angle (19,33o±l 1,12 о vs 10,33 о ±8,34 о) and movement amplitude (71,5 о ±38,52 о vs 90,71 о ±38,52 о). Significant improvement (movement amplitude increase from 68,6±42,4 to 85,3±41,0 and angle of deformation decrease from 15±5,8 to 8,5±7,4) was achieved in 20 pts without correction of treatment influencing functional status. Conclusion. Functional status of pts with JIA improved as a result of complex treatment with medicaments and active rehabilitation methods.
