Engaging with partners to strengthen nutrition, livelihoods and climate adaptation research: Workshop report from Viqueque Municipality, Timor-Leste
WorldFish operates a transdisciplinary research-in-development program in Timor-Leste, hosted by the national government and the Directorate General of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine Resources (DG-FAMR). Two new projects started in Viqueque Municipality in 2022, working to support aquatic foods systems with nutrition-sensitive, inclusive and climate adaptation approaches. A workshop provided a platform to engage and consult with national, municipal and local partners, stakeholders and communities, aiming to strengthen partnerships at the municipality level. This brief provides a summary of the workshop and the outcomes of the consultation, and demonstrates the first steps towards adaptive, sustainable and nutrition-sensitive transformation of aquatic food systems
Co-creating nutrition-sensitive development pathways with aquatic foods: Consulting local food systems partners in Baucau and Lautem municipalities, Timor-Leste

This report is intended for actors, policymakers and funders concerned with improving food and nutrition
security with fisheries as an entry point. It is equally valuable for food system, agricultural, health and
nutrition actors who are seeking to protect and enhance the benefits that fish and other aquatic foods
provide to a diversity of nutrition goals.
This report has been developed from an extensive review of published scientific articles and technical
reports, as well as interviews and consultations with 17 experts. It also draws upon insights from the Pacific
Food System regional dialogues, which were held in the lead-up to the United Nations Food Systems
