Estimation of particle size using the Debye equation and the Scherrer formula for polyphasic TiO2 powder

There are two methods to estimate the particle size from X-ray diffraction data: the Debye equation and the Scherrer formula. The main goal of this study is to describe the methodology of particle size estimation on the base of two these methods and to apply it to TiO2 powder to determine the diameters and the mass content of anatase and brookite components. The studied nano-dispersed TiO2 powder was synthesized by the sol-gel method. The proposed method of particle size estimation consists of several steps: 1. Approximation of diffraction peaks by Gaussians and calculation of initial values of particle size with the use of the Scherrer formula; 2. Iterations with the use of the Debye equation to obtain more accurate particle size values; 3. Calculation of the mass content of different components corresponding to the minimum R-factor. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.Russian Science Foundation, RSF: 17-79-20165The research was supported by the Russian Science Foundation (Project 17-79-20165) and carried out in ISSC UB RAS

Centers of crystallization in antimony thin films studied by transnission electron microscopy

We performed TEM studies of 7 crystallization centers using specially evaporated Sb thin films in finite areas. Strong internal lattice bending is revealed by use of the bend contour method.Partial support of project 3.6121.2017/8.9 (RF Ministry of Education and Science) and agreement № 02.A03.21.0006 (Act 211 Government of the RF) is acknowledged

ORIENTATION ANALYSIS OF A PZT THIN FILM WITH 10% La BY TRANSMISSION ELECTRON MICROSCOPY

Thin PZT films are one of the prominent materials in majority of chips and devices due to their ferroelectric properties. The main goal of this paper is analysis of orientations of the structure of crystals in a thin PZT (PbZr0.53 Ti0.47 O3) film with 10% La content. For this purpose we used the stereographical projection, extinction bend contours and transmission electron microscopy

RESEARCH OF TEXTURES, WHICH FORMS DURING “EXPLOSIVE” ANTIMONY FILMS CRYSTALLISATION BY THE METHOD TEM

Antimony is known to have “explosive” crystallization in thin films. The antimony thin film sample was synthesized by vacuum evaporation. The microstructure was investigated by TEM, SEM, STEM, EDX (energy dispersed X-ray), the extinction bend contour method for analysis of microcrystals and nanostructures lattice`s orientations using microscopes JEM-2100 и LVEM-5. It is convenient to apply color maps for orientation`s characterization (the analogue of the orientational mapping).Поддержано Минобрнауки и Пр. 211 правительства РФ (№ 02.A03.21.0006)
