The (In)Visible Environment? On Whether We Need Shinrin-yoku, and for What?
The subject of our study is shinrin-yoku practiced by students of the Department of Educational Studies, University of Łódź, as part of a course in art therapy. Our didactic activities and analyses of empirical material (walking journals) are part of art-based research. We understand a park as a consciously shaped landscape, and we consider it as an empirical example of how Radlińska understood the concept of environment. Through their atmosphere parks convey multiple meanings and values, including those shaped by past generations, and the subjects who participate in the park space also form relations with it. Referring to the walking journals and related artwork, we distinguish four idealized types of participation in the park (landscape, environment): closed anthropocentric, open anthropocentric, parallel, and non-anthropocentric/autotelic. We also differentiate three distinct stages of education that shape the competences to participate in the environment: utilitarian, indirect, and non-anthropocentric/dialogical.
Posthumanism as Ideology and Research Perspective
elementem towarzyszącym życiu społecznemu, a jej iluzoryczny
pryncypialnie wyklucza on wszelkie formy
jakiejś postaci humanizmu i antropocentryzmu. Są one niezbędne, by
My article aims at showing that posthumanism is an ideology that finds
its extension in research perspective called posthumanities. The notion
of ideology I apply is not a negative one. Ideology is an intrinsic element
of social life, and its illusive character essentially means that it serves as
a tool for man to orientate in the world. It also gives an account of the
current challenges faced by society and of the contradictions related to
them. In my opinion, the contradiction embedded in posthumanism is
that it excludes in a principled way all kinds of
humanism/anthropocentrism, but is virtually unable to escape some
form of humanism and anthropocentrism. They are necessary to do
justice to the worlds of other animal species, to substantiate the ethical
order that posthumanists feel close to, or to be able to use the notion of
agency
Homo sacer w świecie chaosu. Szkic o związkach Agambena z Nancym i Serres’em (Homo Sacer in the World of Chaos. Essay about Agamben’s Associations with Nancy and Serres)
This paper concerns political philosophy of Agamben, which I consider as variety of philosophy of relations. The important point of reference for Agamben are concepts of Jean-Luc Nancy and Michel Serres. According to this, as I show in my sketch, this associations are only superficial. In my opinion consequent philosophy of relations undermines main theses of Agamben’s philosophical project
Why do Gay People Need Norms?*
The text critiques the approach to the norms characteristic of
queer theory, developed in Poland by Jacek Kochanowski. In my
view, the language of queer too strongly emphasizes the negative
aspect of the norms, also unwittingly brings identity to human
sexuality. Referring to the work of Michel Foucault's claim that
gay people need norms in order to build both its own identity and
the space of community life
