Purpose Over Performance: Student Perceptions of International Student Service Projects
Cultural similarities within student international student service trips (ISSPs) on William and Mary\u27s campus are discussed. Information gathered through student interviews, ISSP media presence, and administrator/advisor interviews is analyzed to contribute to a process of self-referential formation, organization and evaluation for ISSP groups on campus. This process is discussed in association with anthropological theories of morality and ritual, as well as community engagement and service learning literature
