Understanding and Design of an Arduino-based PID Controller

    Get PDF
This thesis presents research and design of a Proportional, Integral, and Derivative (PID) controller that uses a microcontroller (Arduino) platform. The research part discusses the structure of a PID algorithm with some motivating work already performed with the Arduino-based PID controller from various fields. An inexpensive Arduino-based PID controller designed in the laboratory to control the temperature, consists of hardware parts: Arduino UNO, thermoelectric cooler, and electronic components while the software portion includes C/C++ programming. The PID parameters for a particular controller are found manually. The role of different PID parameters is discussed with the subsequent comparison between different modes of PID controllers. The designed system can effectively measure the temperature with an error of ± 0.6℃ while a stable temperature control with only slight deviation from the desired value (setpoint) is achieved. The designed system and concepts learned from the control system serve in pursuing inexpensive and precise ways to control physical parameters within a desired range in our laboratory

Is Deprivation Index is a vaible tool to analyze poverty: A case study of Nepal

    Get PDF
This article focuses deprivation as a means of poverty and income inequality. It studies the factors explaining deprivation at the micro-level by using factor analysis technique to formulate the deprivation index and run regression to analyse key determinants of deprivation. The data is obtained from the National Living Standard Survey 2003-04. The empirical findings show that the age and gender of households head, place of residence, educational levels, occupational status, status of financial burden in a household, access to basic services and facilities are important indicators of deprivation in the Nepalese context.poverty, inequality, deprivation

Analysis of Corruption in Our Society

Corruption is one of the major problems of present day world, that is intangible in itself, but, plays a major role in our daily life, which either, directly or indirectly, is effecting our lives. Through this paper, we have tried to classify the types of corruption under five major headings

VALIDATION OF THE STATE BASED PERIDYNAMIC LATTICE MODEL

This thesis presents a study performed to validate the State-based Peridynamic Lattice Model (SPLM) using results obtained from laboratory experiments. The SPLM is capable of modeling cracking of solids using particle lattices. We use a plane stress, elastic-plastic damage SPLM model for the simulations. The SPLM model is appropriate for computational simulations of cementitious materials as it automatically allows cracks to develop. In this study, the lattices are rotated through different angles and the variations of the cracking patterns are studied. In the laboratory, we performed nine Brazilian split cylinder tests, three anchor pullout/direct tensile tests, and eight compression tests on cylinders of standard size. We also tested four beams as modulus of rupture tests. The results from the laboratory tests and the SPLM simulations were then compared. The comparison indicates that the SPLM produced similar results as the laboratory experiments and the ACI code predictions. These results indicate that SPLM is a reasonable simulation method for these types of specimens

    Foreign Direct Investment in Nepal

    Get PDF
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) emerges as new source of resources in the world economy along with economic integration. This is observed most favorable but debatable resource. In Nepal, the policy response to FDI is found increasing by the liberal policy in WTO eras, although it is debatable issue in the academic and business community. Size, structure and trend of FDI inflow in Nepal determines its degree of effectiveness in South Asian context. This paper focuses on the relationship of FDI with Economic growth and export trade to India and third world countries to understand FDI ‘s contribution to Nepalese economy. This has tested a simple regression model based on based on the secondary data

Measurement of Vulnerability of Single Women in Nepalese Households: Query about inclusion or exclusion

    Get PDF
Concept of single women is not issue of trauma psychologically and socio-economically in modern household and society like as in patriarchal society. However, still it is a big issue in Nepalese society as well as academic discourse and development practices, although Nepalese polity is post modernism and western character and development approach is a proactive gender balanced from top to bottom. This paper examines the relationship between single women, vulnerability level and household structure in rural society of Nepal based on primary data sets collected from household survey by using descriptive statistics. It finds the growth of single women due to the conflict of Nepal (1996-2006), the growth of foreign employment led divorces and deaths (1999-2019) and natural deaths of male and multifaceted vulnerability level of single women in nuclear and joint family. Despite the growth of financial and political independence of single women, still vulnerability is acute in Nepal. It is a barrier to single women’s happiness and empowerment

Understanding corporate social responsibility of the corporate sector to Sustainable Development Goal for energy in Nepal

Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7: energy for all is a global agenda to Nepal, where about 85 percent rural population have not access to energy for lighting and about 40 percent of the bottom 20 percent extreme poor access energy. The government has been initiating alternative energy to reduce such huge energy gap. Still it is not sufficient for wider impact. The corporate sector’s social responsibility is alternative hope for further collaboration. However, still energy for all campaign is sluggish. In this context, this paper examines CSR of the corporate sector in Nepal and its contribution in SDG 7: energy for all. The paper has employed explorative and descriptive method based on secondary and primary data. The paper finds a better knowledge of stakeholders about CSR but its fund is informal and small. Its size is un systematically least. It is voluntarily nature to the corporate sector. Its impact is narrow. In SDG 7: energy for all, there is no knowledge about SDG 7, no CSR activity and event because of no mandatory, no knowledge and no idea. Therefore, almost all stakeholders opine to make it mandatory and prioritized SDG 7: energy for all for its positive impacts in the society at large and wider
