Gallery films are cinematic installations assembled and displayed in an art gallery as a combined exhibition of moving images and contemporary art. As such, a gallery film signifies the evolution of film presentation from a black-box screen to a white-cube space, a characteristic of contemporary art. This research examines Yang Fudong’s (b. 1971) two exhibitions Beyond GOD and Evil-First Chapter (Suzhou Museum, September to December 2019) and Endless Peaks (ShanghART Gallery, November 2020 to January 2021) by employing theories from art history as well as film and media studies, including theories of Chinese landscape painting, discourses on the picturesque and spectatorship, and works by such thinkers as André Bazin and Maurice Merleau-Ponty. Following Gene Youngblood’s “expanded cinema,” I argue that Yang has extended the boundaries of film viewing by integrating Chinese landscape ink painting and video art into his gallery films. Yang’s creative strategy, specifically his use of multiple screens and classical Chinese landscape painting in creating a stylistic shift of cinematic viewing in the white cube setting, distinguishes him from other gallery film artists. This type of gallery film is characterized by ambiguity, an epistemological void that invites a hermeneutic interpretation. Gallery film is vital to the understanding and appreciation of Yang Fudong’s works and my study seeks to fill in the gaps of prior studies which tend to focus on the exhibition’s socio-political aspects and do not provide any indepth analysis informed by concepts of gallery film and contemporary art

At present the incidence of bronchial asthma on the rise, its pathogenesis and the genetic immune and the relationship between social environment and other aspects are inseparable the activity of vitamin D (Vit D) in the body in the form of 1, 25 - (OH) 2 d3, mainly involved in bone metabolism and calcium absorption in addition to this, a growing number of studies show that in Vit D plays an important role in the pathogenesis of bronchial asthma, play a role in the immune function of bronchial asthma growth hormone sensitivity adjustment and airway remodeling in this paper, the development of a variety of mechanisms, such as Vit D. Review the possible mechanisms affecting bronchial asthma, hoping to provide adjuvant treatment for patients with bronchial asthma, discover new treatment approaches, and improve the quality of life for patients

Coenzyme Q10 Inhibits the Aging of Mesenchymal Stem Cells Induced by D-Galactose through Akt/mTOR Signaling

Increasing evidences indicate that reactive oxygen species are the main factor promoting stem cell aging. Recent studies have demonstrated that coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) plays a positive role in organ and cellular aging. However, the potential for CoQ10 to protect stem cell aging has not been fully evaluated, and the mechanisms of cell senescence inhibited by CoQ10 are still poorly understood. Our previous study had indicated that D-galactose (D-gal) can remarkably induce mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) aging through promoting intracellular ROS generation. In this study, we showed that CoQ10 could significantly inhibit MSC aging induced by D-gal. Moreover, in the CoQ10 group, the expression of p-Akt and p-mTOR was clearly reduced compared with that in the D-gal group. However, after Akt activating by CA-Akt plasmid, the senescence-cell number in the CoQ10 group was significantly higher than that in the control group. These results indicated that CoQ10 could inhibit D-gal-induced MSC aging through the Akt/mTOR signaling

Microwave‐Assisted Pyrolysis of Biomass for Bio‐Oil Production

    Get PDF
Microwave‐assisted pyrolysis (MAP) is a new thermochemical process that converts biomass to bio‐oil. Compared with the conventional electrical heating pyrolysis, MAP is more rapid, efficient, selective, controllable, and flexible. This chapter provides an up‐to‐date knowledge of bio‐oil production from microwave‐assisted pyrolysis of biomass. The chemical, physical, and energy properties of bio‐oils obtained from microwave‐assisted pyrolysis of biomass are described in comparison with those from conventional pyrolysis, the characteristics of microwave‐assisted pyrolysis as affected by biomass feedstock properties, microwave heating operations, use of exogenous microwave absorbents, and catalysts are discussed. With the advantages it offers and the further research and development recommended, microwave‐assisted pyrolysis has a bright future in production of bio‐oils that can effectively narrow the energy gap and reduce negative environmental impacts of our energy production and application practice

Lack of Cul4b, an E3 Ubiquitin Ligase Component, Leads to Embryonic Lethality and Abnormal Placental Development

Cullin-RING ligases (CRLs) complexes participate in the regulation of diverse cellular processes, including cell cycle progression, transcription, signal transduction and development. Serving as the scaffold protein, cullins are crucial for the assembly of ligase complexes, which recognize and target various substrates for proteosomal degradation. Mutations in human CUL4B, one of the eight members in cullin family, are one of the major causes of X-linked mental retardation. We here report the generation and characterization of Cul4b knockout mice, in which exons 3 to 5 were deleted. In contrast to the survival to adulthood of human hemizygous males with CUL4B null mutation, Cul4b null mouse embryos show severe developmental arrest and usually die before embryonic day 9.5 (E9.5). Accumulation of cyclin E, a CRL (CUL4B) substrate, was observed in Cul4b null embryos. Cul4b heterozygotes were recovered at a reduced ratio and exhibited a severe developmental delay. The placentas in Cul4b heterozygotes were disorganized and were impaired in vascularization, which may contribute to the developmental delay. As in human CUL4B heterozygotes, Cul4b null cells were selected against in Cul4b heterozygotes, leading to various degrees of skewed X-inactivation in different tissues. Together, our results showed that CUL4B is indispensable for embryonic development in the mouse

What kind of love concept do you have? Do you value gender distinction and think you cannot fall in love with people of the same gender? Now let\u27s imagine there is another world where heterosexuality is not legal. Will you still be limited by the established values? Or will you be brave enough to challenge social values and pursue your love? The utopia world reflects the real world. We are all the Other. Maybe in love gender does not matter. I love you just because of you. https://commons.ln.edu.hk/vis3298_201819/1008/thumbnail.jp
