Beta Decay Of Exotic T-Z =-1 And T-Z =-2 Nuclei

    No full text
The half-lives of the T-Z = -2, Zn-56 and T-Z = -1, Zn-58 isotopes and other nuclei were measured in a beta-decay experiment at GANIL. The energy levels populated by the Zn-56 beta decay were determined. The Zn-56 results are compared with the results of the mirror process, the charge exchange reaction Fe-56(He-3,t)Co-56

GAMOW-TELLER TRANSITIONS IN PROTON RICH NUCLEI DEDUCED FROM THE COMBINED STUDY OF beta-DECAY AND CHARGE-EXCHANGE REACTIONS

    No full text
Studying the weak nuclear response, especially the Gamow-Teller (GT) transitions, starting from stable as well as unstable pf-shell nuclei, is one of the key issues in nuclear and nuclear-astro physics. We study the GT transitions starting from T-z = +/- 2 mirror nuclei, respectively, by means of beta decays and complementary hadronic (He-3, t) charge-exchange reactions. Under the assumption that isospin is a good quantum number, symmetry is expected for the structure of mirror nuclei and the GT transitions starting from them. The beta-decay half-life and branching ratios and the strength distribution of GT transitions from the (He-3, t) reaction are compared and also combined for the understanding of the nuclear structure of pf-shell far-from-stability nuclei
