Entanglement dynamics in dissipative photonic Mott insulators
We theoretically investigate the entanglement dynamics in photonic Mott
insulators in the presence of particle losses and dephasing. We explore two
configurations where entanglement is generated following the injection or
extraction of a photon in the central site of a chain of cavity resonators. We
study the entanglement negativity of two-site reduced density matrices as a
function of time and inter-site distance. Our findings show that in spite of
particle losses the quantum entanglement propagation exhibits a ballistic
character with propagation speeds related to the differerent quasiparticles
that are involved in the dynamics, namely photonic doublons and holons
respectively. Our analysis reveals that photon dissipation has a strikingly
asymmetric behavior in the two configurations with a much more dramatic role on
the holon entanglement propagation than for the doublon case.Comment: 4 figure

Medical Foods: Science, Regulation, and Practical Aspects. Summary of a Workshop.
On August 13-14, 2019, the Healthcare Nutrition Council and the ASN held the Medical Foods Workshop: Science, Regulation, and Practical Aspects. Medical food products help patients manage their disease and improve their quality of life. Yet many hurdles exist to getting patients new products. In this workshop, participants addressed some of these hurdles, with specific emphasis on topics like the statutory term distinctive nutritional requirements, the regulatory term modification of the diet alone, the role of clinical guidelines, the requirement that medical foods be used under medical supervision, and differentiation of foods for special dietary use from medical foods, as well as product innovation and future research. Real-world examples were discussed for intractable epilepsy, diabetes, end-stage renal disease, and inflammatory bowel disease
In the last years some natural products has been described as supressors of the mutagenic process in bacteria, the antimutagenics. The literature reference that in most of the countries, the population makes use of medicinal plants. The plant Momordica charantia (Cucurbitaceae) is original from Africa being used popularly as purgative, antirheumatic and for skin problems, burns and hemorrhoids. The present work had as objective to evaluate the mutagenic and antimutagenic activities of the ethanolic extract of M. charantia in Salmonella/microsome assays using TA100, TA98 and TA102 strains. It was verified that the extract did not present mutagenic activity when evaluated in different concentrations (0.64, 1.27, 2.55 and 3.84 mg/plate) but acted as antimutagenic agent against the mutations induced by the sodium azide (TA100,-S9), 4-nitro-phenylenediamine (TA98, -S9), daunomycin (TA102, +S9) 2-anthramine (TA100 and TA98, +S9) and 2-aminofluorene (TA102, +S9). When the metabolic activation (+S9) was used, the percentage of inhibition of the mutagenicity varied in the range of 31%-96%, while in absence of metabolizing system (-S9), the maximum percentage of inhibition of the mutagenicity was 44%. In that way, we can conclude that the metabolites found in the extract has potential to protect the genetic material against the damages induced by different chemical agents
