Four dimensional Lie symmetry algebras and fourth order ordinary differential equations
Realizations of four dimensional Lie algebras as vector fields in the plane
are explicitly constructed. Fourth order ordinary differential equations which
admit such Lie symmetry algebras are derived. The route to their integration is

Galaxy Evolution in Local Group Analogs. I. A GALEX study of nearby groups
Understanding the astrophysical processes acting within galaxy groups and
their effects on the evolution of the galaxy population is one of the crucial
topic of modern cosmology, as almost 60% of galaxies in the Local Universe are
found in groups. We imaged in the far (FUV 1539 A) and near ultraviolet (NUV
2316 A) with GALEX three nearby groups, namely LGG93, LGG127 and LGG225. We
obtained the UV galaxy surface photometry and, for LGG225, the only group
covered by the SDSS, the photometry in u, g, r, i, z bands. We discuss galaxy
morphologies looking for interaction signatures and we analyze the SED of
galaxies to infer their luminosity-weighted ages. The UV and optical photometry
was also used to perform a kinematical and dynamical analysis of each group and
to evaluate the stellar mass. A few member galaxies in LGG225 show a distorted
UV morphology due to ongoing interactions. (FUV-NUV) colors suggest that
spirals in LGG93 and LGG225 host stellar populations in their outskirts younger
than that of M31 and M33 in the LG or with less extinction. The irregular
interacting galaxy NGC3447A has a significantly younger stellar population (few
Myr old) than the average of the other irregular galaxies in LGG225 suggesting
that the encounter triggered star formation. The early-type members of LGG225,
NGC3457 and NGC3522, have masses of the order of a few 10^9 Mo, comparable to
the Local Group ellipticals. For the most massive spiral in LGG225, we estimate
a stellar mass of ~4x10 Mo, comparable to M33 in the LG. Ages of stellar
populations range from a few to ~7 Gyr for the galaxies in LGG225. The
kinematical and dynamical analysis indicates that LGG127 and LGG225 are in a
pre-virial collapse phase, i.e. still undergoing dynamical relaxation, while

Galaxy evolution in groups. USGC U268 and USGC U376 in the Leo cloud
With the aim of investigating galaxy evolution in nearby galaxy groups, we
analysed the spectral energy distribution of 24 galaxies, members of two groups
in the Leo cloud, USGC U268 and USGC U376. We estimated the ages and stellar
masses of the galaxies by fitting their total apparent magnitudes from
far-ultraviolet to near-infrared with population synthesis models. The
comparison of the results for a subsample of galaxies with smooth particle
hydrodynamic (SPH) simulations with chemo-photometric implementation, shows
that in most cases the estimated stellar masses obtained with the two different
approaches are in good agreement. The kinematical and dynamical analysis
indicates that USGC U268 is in a pre-virial collapse phase while USGC U376 is

Real Life Clinical Management and Survival in Advanced Cutaneous Melanoma: The Italian Clinical National Melanoma Registry Experience
background: cutaneous melanoma (CM) is one of the most aggressive types of skin cancer. currently, innovative approaches such as target therapies and immunotherapies have been introduced in clinical practice. data of clinical trials and real life studies that evaluate the outcomes of these therapeutic associations are necessary to establish their clinical utility. the aim of this study is to investigate the types of oncological treatments employed in the real-life clinical management of patients with advanced CM in several Italian centers, which are part of the clinical national melanoma registry (CNMR). methods: melanoma-specific survival and overall survival were calculated. multivariate cox regression models were used to estimate the hazard ratios adjusting for confounders and other prognostic factors. results: the median follow-up time was 36 months (range 1.2-185.1). 787 CM were included in the analysis with completed information about therapies. all types of immunotherapy showed a significant improved survival compared with all other therapies (p=0.001). 75% was the highest reduction of death reached by anti-PD-1 (HR=0.25), globally immunotherapy was significantly associated with improved survival, either for anti-CTLA4 monotherapy or combined with anti-PD-1 (HR=0.47 and 0.26, respectively) and BRAFI+MEKI (HR=0.62). conclusions: the nivolumab/pembrolizumab in combination of ipilimumab and the addition of ant-MEK to the BRAFi can be considered the best therapies to improve survival in a real-world-population. the CNMR can complement clinical registries with the intent of improving cancer management and standardizing cancer treatment
Asymptotics of LQG fusion coefficients
The fusion coefficients from SO(3) to SO(4) play a key role in the definition
of spin foam models for the dynamics in Loop Quantum Gravity. In this paper we
give a simple analytic formula of the EPRL fusion coefficients. We study the
large spin asymptotics and show that they map SO(3) semiclassical intertwiners
into semiclassical intertwiners. This non-trivial
property opens the possibility for an analysis of the semiclassical behavior of

Determination of Gd concentration profile in UO2-Gd2O3 fuel pellets
A transversal mapping of the Gd concentration was measured in UO2-Gd2O3
nuclear fuel pellets by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR). The
quantification was made from the comparison with a Gd2O3 reference sample. The
nominal concentration in the pellets is UO2: 7.5 % Gd2O3. A concentration
gradient was found, which indicates that the Gd2O3 amount diminishes towards
the edges of the pellets. The concentration varies from (9.3 +/- 0.5)% in the
center to (5.8 +/- 0.3)% in one of the edges. The method was found to be
particularly suitable for the precise mapping of the distribution of Gd3+ ions

Simple model for quantum general relativity from loop quantum gravity
New progress in loop gravity has lead to a simple model of `general-covariant
quantum field theory'. I sum up the definition of the model in self-contained
form, in terms accessible to those outside the subfield. I emphasize its
formulation as a generalized topological quantum field theory with an infinite
number of degrees of freedom, and its relation to lattice theory. I list the
indications supporting the conjecture that the model is related to general

Electron-phonon coupling in potassium-doped graphene: Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy
The electron-phonon coupling in potassium-doped graphene on Ir(111) is
studied via the renormalization of the pi* band near the Fermi level, using
angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The renormalization is found to be
fairly weak and almost isotropic, with a mass enhancement parameter of lambda=
0.28(6) for both the K-M and the K-G direction. These results are found to

Hierarchy of general invariants for bivariate LPDOs
We study invariants under gauge transformations of linear partial
differential operators on two variables. Using results of BK-factorization, we
construct hierarchy of general invariants for operators of an arbitrary order.
Properties of general invariants are studied and some examples are presented.
We also show that classical Laplace invariants correspond to some particular
