The paper focuses on the effect of dimensions of organizational citizenship behavior on performance of employees in Finance sector with special reference to Banking sector in Lucknow. This paper brings out as to which dimension is present in higher proportion .The study was conducted on 400 employees of banking sector in Lucknow and it uses convenience sampling. The data was collected from both the private banks and nationalized banks. The study brings out that the conscientiousness is present to a greatest degree in the employees of banking sector. While the sportsmanship behavior is present to the least degree in the employees of banking sector.

Predictors of oocyte yield in controlled ovarian hyperstimulation IVF/ICSI cycles: a retrospective analysis in a tertiary care centre

Background: The most important predictor of oocyte yield in ART cycles is female age, but other biochemical and ultrasonographic markers done before controlled ovarian stimulation may predict the oocyte yield in women undergoing COS in IVF cycles. Methods: The main aim of the study was to evaluate ovarian reserve markers before COS which can help to individualise treatment protocols to achieve optimal response and minimise risk of complications. It is retrospective observational study, 1924 women undergoing COS in IVF/ICSI cycles in tertiary care centre in India, from January 2010 to June 2017 were included. Results: Univariate analysis showed that age, D2FSH, AMH, D2AFC and E2 on the day of trigger were significant predictors of oocyte yield (p7.82 IU/ml was predictor of poor response (sensitivity 78.13%, specificity 79.53%).Conclusions: A combination of predictors demonstrated superior ability of predicting oocyte yield after controlled ovarian stimulation than compared with any single endocrine marker. D2 FSH though thought to be obsolete, but we found significant predictive ability in terms of oocyte yield in the Indian population

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy for epithelial ovarian cancer-role of apoptosis

Ovarian cancer is one of the most frequently fatal gynecological cancers because most cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage. Loss of growth control and a marked resistance to apoptosis are considered major mechanisms driving tumor progression. Little is known about the effect of various treatment regimens on the distribution of molecular markers of apoptosis in epithelial ovarian cancer. The objective of this study was to compare the expression levels of both proapoptotic and antiapoptotic proteins p53, p73, Bcl-2, Bcl-XL and survivin in the ascitic cells and tumor samples of patients undergoing treatment with two different regimens. Methods A total of 24 patients with untreated epithelial ovarian cancer were randomized into two groups of 12 each. Group 1 patients received three cycles of chemotherapy prior to surgery and three cycles after surgery and group 2 patients received six cycles of chemotherapy prior to surgery. The expression of apoptosis-related proteins was analyzed in ascitic fluid and tumor samples by Western blotting and immunohistochemistry. The apoptotic index was also determined in these samples by the TUNEL assay. Results Significant decreases in antiapoptotic bcl-2 and survivin were seen, accompanied by increases in apoptotic index in tumors that had undergone chemotherapy as compared to the baseline ascites samples. No significant change in bcl-XL was observed. A significant decrease in proapoptotic p53 was also seen. No expression of p73 was observed in tumors or ascites. The findings were similar in groups 1 and 2 patients and were not statistically significantly different, perhaps due to the small sample size (n=12) of each group. Conclusions The above findings indicate that chemotherapy in ovarian carcinoma leads to an increase in apoptosis by a p53-independent pathway, which involves the downregulation of antiapoptotic Bcl-2 and survivin but not Bcl-XL. Furthermore, administering neoadjuvant chemotherapy (six cycles) as an alternative form of therapy for advanced epithelial ovarian cancer is more effective in inducing apoptosis than three cycles. However, the findings of this study need to be corroborated using a larger sample

Tumor marker CA-125 as an evaluator and response indicator in ovarian cancer: its quantitative correlation with tumor volume

    No full text
Background: The tumor marker Cancer Antigen 125 (CA 125), though not ovarian cancer specific, is widely used for the evaluation of suspected and under-treated ovarian cancer. Many studies show that serum CA 125 level demonstrates ovarian tumor burden and its response, but they lack quantitative correlation between the two. Instead, they rely on clinical or radiological assessment of gross tumor burden. This study examines ovarian tumor volumes and corresponding serum CA 125 values before and during chemotherapy. MATERIALS/ METHODS: Ovarian tumor volume was measured by CT scans at pre-chemotherapy and after each cycle of chemotherapy in 15 patients. Blood serum CA 125 was determined on the days of CT scans using a one-step immunoenzymatic assay. Results: There was no statistically significant correlation (r = 0.18, p > 0.05) between ovarian tumor volumes and CA 125 among patients at pre-chemotherapy or any subsequent time. In individual patients, the reduction or increase in tumor volume correlated with the corresponding CA 125 values during chemotherapy in 85% (12 out of 14) of patients. Mean CA 125 halving time was 44.1 days, which correlated with tumor halving time (r = 0.63, p < 0.05). Conclusions: Values of CA 125 cannot be used for comparison of ovarian tumor mass among patients. However, serial estimation of CA 125 in individuals is fairly reliable in terms of the course of the tumor. CT scan is a more informative response indicator, but it is costly and hence may be supplemented by the easy and economical CA 125 estimation
