    Investigation of Impression Management Tactics Exhibited by Powerful Businesswomen in Turkey by Content Analysis

    In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the post sent by businesswomen who are managers in different sectors by using social media in terms of impression management. In accordance with the study aim, the official Twitter accounts of 50 businesswomen in the list of the most powerful 50 businesswomen of business life in 2020 prepared by Fortune Magazine including the dates of March 11, 2020-January 28, 2021 through the content analysis method. In the study, it was presented the date the businesswomen joined Twitter application, the number of their followers and the accounts they follow, and their number of posts. The posts sent by the businesswomen were grouped according to contents, and the groups were designated according to impression management tactics. The posts in the accounts were interpreted in terms of aggressive and defensive impression management tactics, and it was found in the study that the businesswomen have generally been using the impression management tactics of Self-promotion (SP), Ingratiation (IN), and Exemplification (EX) among the aggressive and defensive impression management tactics. It can be said that the studies in this scope have importance in terms of increasing and supporting the participation of women to business world by presenting the influence of women in business world. Besides, because of that the Covid-19 period is a period during which the institutions face crisis economically, analyzing the attitude of businesswomen at this point has importance also in terms of management

    Fixed -dose combination therapies are important alternative of hypertension treatment. The management of suicidal intoxication with these conbination preparations which might have different and sometimes interactive mechanisms is still unclear. In this case-report a 51 -yearold male patient who had taken 26 pills of perindopril 5 mg and amlodipine 10 mg combination drug. He admitted to the emergency department with the complications of dizziness and fatigue. He was followed in intensive care unit after his first medical care unitafter his first medical emergency intervensions. After development of hypotensionand acute renal failure, he improved with fluid resussitation and symtomatic treatment and he was discharged

    Better allele-level matching improves transplant-related mortality after double cord blood transplantation

    Cord blood transplant requires less stringent human leukocyte antigen matching than unrelated donors. In 133 patients with hematologic malignancies who engrafted after double cord blood transplantation with a dominant unit, we studied the effect of high resolution testing at 4 loci (-A, -B, -C, -DRB1) for its impact on 2-year transplant-related mortality. Ten percent of the dominant cord blood units were matched at 7–8/8 alleles using HLA-A, -B, -C, and -DRB1; 25% were matched at 6/8, 40% at 5/8, and 25% at 4/8 or less allele. High resolution typing at 4 loci showed that there was no 2-year transplant-related mortality in 7–8/8 matched patients. Patients with 5–6/8 matched dominant cord blood units had 2-year transplant-related mortality of 39% while patients with 4/8 or less matched units had 60%. Multivariate regression analyses confirmed the independent effect of high resolution typing on the outcome when adjusted for age, diagnosis, CD34+ cell dose infused, graft manipulation and cord to cord matching. The worst prognostic group included patients aged over 32 years with 4/8 or less matched cord blood units compared with patients who were either younger than 32 years old independent of allele-level matching, or aged over 32 years but with 5–6/8 matched cord blood units (Hazard Ratio 2.2; 95% confidence interval: 1.3–3.7;

Bu amaçlardan ilki Kahveci ve Demirtaş (2013) tarafından öğretmenleriçin geliştirilen örgütsel sessizlik ölçeğinin, akademisyenler için geçerlilikve güvenilirlik çalışmalarının yapılmasıdır. Diğeri ise devlet ve vakıfüniversitelerinde çalışan akademisyenlerin örgütsel sessizlik algılarınınsosyo-demografik değişkenler açısından farklılık gösterip göstermediğinin incelenmesidir.Araştırmada olasılığa dayalı olmayan örnekleme tekniklerinden biri olan kolaydaörnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Yöntem: Marmara Bölgesi’nde dörtfarklı üniversitede görev yapan 137 akademisyenin katılımıyla ve anket tekniğiyoluyla toplanan veriler SSPS 20.0 ve AMOS 21.0 istatistik paket programında analizedilerek yorumlanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler açıklayıcı ve doğrulayıcı faktöranalizleri, Mann-Whitney U ve Kruskal-Wallis H testleri iledeğerlendirilmiştir.Bulgular: Araştırmasonuçlarına göre örgütsel sessizlik ölçeğinin akademisyenler için geçerli vegüvenilir olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca, akademisyenlerin eğitim düzeyleri ile dışçevre kaynaklı sessizlik ve korunma amaçlı sessizlik, görev yaptıkları birimile dış çevre kaynaklı sessizlik, unvanları ile korunma amaçlı sessizlikaçısından sessiz kalma nedenlerinin farklılaştığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Objectives: The research has two aims. Thefirst aim of the research is to make adaptation study for academicians of the organizationalsilence scale developed by Kahveci and Demirtaş (2013) for teachers. The secondaim of this study is to examine whether there is a difference between thesocio-demographic variables of academicians' perceptions of organizationalsilence and the academicians working at state and foundation universities. Inthe research, convenience sampling method is used, which is one of thenon-probability-based sampling techniques. Method: The data, collected through theparticipation of 137 academicians at four different universities in MarmaraRegion and survey techniques, were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 21.0 statisticalprogram. Data obtained from research has been evaluated by explanatory andconfirmatory factor analysis, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis H tests.Findings: According to the results of theresearch, it was found that the organizational silence scale is valid andreliable for the academicians. Findings from the study showed that academiciansdiffer in terms of their educational level with based on external environmentsilence and defensive silence, working unit with based on external environmentsilence and the reasons for their silence in terms of titles with defensivesilence

    An Assessment of Risk Communication from the Perspective of Disaster Management in the Pandemic Period: Content Analysis of Social Media Shares

    Risk yönetimi, risk iletişiminde önemli role sahiptir. Günümüzde sosyal medyanın da etkisiyle birlikte kitle iletişim araçlarının etkin kullanımına ihtiyaç vardır. Bu açıdan hızlı şekilde topluma ulaşım sağlayan ve kolay yönetilebilir iletişim araçlarının başında sosyal medya gelmektedir. Zamanında, eyleme geçirilebilir ve güvenilir bilgi kanalları, özellikle yüksek korku ve belirsizlik içeren durumlarda hayati öneme sahiptir. Acil durumlarda bilgi akışı ve yüksek şeffaflığın tesis edilebilmesi için iletişime açık ve esnek bir yaklaşım gereklidir. Araştırmanın amacı, günümüz koşullarında yaşadığımız salgın ve ardından aynı dönemde meydana gelen deprem afetleri kapsamında AFAD’ın risk yönetimi açısından iletişim stratejisini nasıl ele aldığının sosyal medya hesapları üzerinden incelenmesidir. Çalışma, Twitter’da zaman dilimi olarak 11 Mart 2020-31 Aralık 2020 tarihleri arasında AFAD tarafından paylaşılan tweetlerden oluşmaktadır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Kurumun mesaj içerikleri risk iletişim sürecinde bilgilendirme, önleyici mesaj, acil durum ve iyileştirme şeklinde gruplandırılmıştır. İncelenen tweetler; deprem, meteoroloji, kaza-zehirlenme-yangın-patlama, Covid-19, yardım faaliyetleri, yapılan etkinlikler, uluslararası tanınırlık çalışmaları, anma-özel gün-bayram mesajları şeklinde sınıflandırılmışlardır. Bu kapsamda AFAD’ın konu içeriklerine göre kullandığı risk iletişim teknikleri incelenmiştir. Sonuç olarak AFAD’ın risk iletişimi bağlamında sosyal medya araçlarını eş zamanlı olarak etkin kullanmasının kriz süreçlerinde toplumun yaşamış olduğu kaygı ve belirsizliğin giderilmesinde önemli bir etkiye sahip olduğu söylenebilir.Risk management has an important role in risk communication. Nowadays, there is a need for effective use of mass media with the effect of social media. In this respect, social media is one of the most easily manageable communication tools that provide rapid access to society. Timely, actionable and reliable channels of information are vital, especially in situations of high fear and uncertainty. An open and flexible approach to communication is required in order to establish information flow and high transparency in emergency situations. The aim of the research is to examine how AFAD handles its communication strategy in terms of risk management through social media accounts within the scope of the epidemic we live in today’s conditions and the earthquake disasters that occurred in the same period. The study consists of tweets shared by AFAD between March 11, 2020 and December 31, 2020 on Twitter. The obtained data were analyzed by content analysis method. The message contents of the institution are grouped as information in the risk communication process, preventive message, emergency and improvement. The examined tweets; earthquake, meteorology, accident-poisoning-fire-explosion, Covid-19, aid activities, activities, international recognition studies, memorial-special day-holiday messages. In this context, risk communication techniques AFAD uses according to the subject contents have been examined. As a result, it can be said that AFAD's effective use of social media tools simultaneously in the context of risk communication has an important effect on eliminating the anxiety and uncertainty experienced by the society during crisis processes
