Home-sharing platforms such as Airbnb are often criticized for driving real estate prices high and thereby fostering gentrification. Therefore, countries around the globe try to regulate short-term rentals. Also Portugal did so by implementing the Law n.º 62/2018 which empowers city councils to put into effect their own policies.
