The purposes of this article are: i) to criticize the translations of a collection of David Trinidad’s and Giannina Braschi’s poems; ii) to identify and analyze the aesthetic and semantic effects of their texts, which would call for creative strategies and rewritings in order to reproduce them in different languages; iii) to consider the creative exchange in the translation process as an experiment of omissions and emphasis in their phonetic, morphological, syntactic, semantic, and metric dimensions; iv) to reason out obligatory and non-obligatory shifts in the transformations which would be required by the reinsertion in a target culture. Trinidad’s and Braschi’s poetry can be characterized by the juxtaposition of genres and registers, and the de-hierarchization of the socio-cultural standards of the status quo. These poets include references to the media, and to everyday life people and situations in a piece of research on the cultural landscape of big metropolises. The autobiographical impulse is present through personal experiences intermingled with critical comments on current social behavior.
THE POETRY OF JUDY GRAHN AND MARLENE NOURBESE PHILIP:ISSUES OF IDENTITY AND PRACTICES OF GENERATIVE TRANSLATIONAbstractIn “Generative Translation in Spicer, Gelman and Hawkey”, Lisa Bradford (2013) explains that translators tryto “successfully transplant a work into a new language-land in order to share and perpetuate its beauty”,however, not all of them “strive to clone the source text, preferring rather to cultivate it by means of generativetranslation”, a “translational poetics that functions to reveal and revive the original articulation while producingan entirely fresh work of art” (p.2).The comparative reading of “Slowly: a plainsong from an older woman to ayounger woman”, by Judy Grahn, and “Meditations on the Declension of Beauty by the Girl with the FlyingCheek-bones”, by Marlene Nourbese Philip, allows analyzing some of the issues that become evident whenattempting different forms of translation of these texts into another language. Grahn, American poet, is wellknownfor her political writings and her contributions to the lesbian-feminist movement. Philip, Caribbeanpoet, describes in her poems the experiences of the woman of color during and after colonial and postcolonialtimes. The selected poems are, without a doubt, clear examples of these poets’ ideology and deal withquestions of identity through the interesting mingling of the use of repetition, fragmentation, language playand delay. The option of a type of generative translation that allows conversations with the original texts andthe generation of new images is indeed a valid option to consider.Key Words: generative translation- ideology-language play- delay-fragmentatio

Geographies of Violence. Contemporary Chronicles of Violence in the Americas
This dissertation analyzes the works of contemporary artists from the Americas who produce representations of urban violence through multi-media chronicles. The chroniclers studied are the Chilean Pedro Lemebel, the Brazilians Paulo Lins, Fernando Meirelles and Kátia Lund, and the U.S. Latinos Joseph Rodríguez, Rubén Martínez, and Luis Rodríguez. The texts produced by these artists not only represent and explain contemporary geographies of violence but also become geographies of violence that audiences need to learn to inhabit and traverse. This dissertation addresses how the chronicle, in particular, articulates violence, identifies the advantages of using this genre to represent urban violence, considers how existing geographies of violence are distributed within the city and discusses how relevant the notion of space is to both their material development and manifestation and their symbolic presence through the chronicle.
The comparative textual analysis of the selected chronicles demonstrates how violence is understood and represented by contemporary artists with different backgrounds and exposes the differences and similarities of their representations. Reading these chroniclers comparatively enables the consideration of a variety of different media through which violence is expressed in order to determine how the choices made by the artists affect the reception of their works. Such analysis allows an in-depth study of what these artists do with the genre of the chronicle: first, how having chosen the chronicle affects their particular renditions of violence; second, how the chronicle as a genre is affected by the specific content of urban violence; and, ultimately, how the chronicle is redefined by specific aesthetic manipulations.
Finally, because each of the chroniclers selected for this study engages in translation practices, either as translators of their own work or as translators of other artists' work, this dissertation considers how their representations of urban violence are affected when they "travel" across a variety of media-- that is, not only how the choice of media shapes these artists' representation of urban violence and their manipulation of the chronicle but also how their translation or transference from one medium to another impacts on their original representation of violence
The oral source is one more tool at the service of the historical research, created consciously by the researcher to regain testimonies and memories of people who lived, knew about or were responsible for a past fact. The collection of oral testimonies is carried out through a rigorous process where the interview will take place.
oral sources have an enormous educative potential in the primary classroom, since they allow and active learning approach, where students construct their own knowledge, being aware of the continuous development of the historical speech.
Therefore, first it is stated a general insight of the origins and development of the oral sources in the field of study of historiography; in order to explain afterwards its pedagogical implementation in the primary classroom. Finally it is included a pedagogical proposal with several activities oriented to the third cycle of primary education.Graduado o Graduada en Maestro en Educación Primaria por la Universidad Pública de NavarraLehen Hezkuntzako Irakasletzan Graduatua Nafarroako Unibertsitate Publikoa
