Fabrication and transport critical currents of multifilamentary MgB2/Fe wires and tapes
Multifilamentary MgB2/Fe wires and tapes with high transport critical current
densities have been fabricated using a straightforward powder-in-tube (PIT)
process. After annealing, we measured transport jc values up to 1.1 * 105 A/cm2
at 4.2 K and in a field of 2 T in a MgB2/Fe square wire with 7 filaments
fabricated by two-axial rolling, and up to 5 * 104 A/cm2 at 4.2 K in 1 T in a
MgB2/Fe tape with 7 filaments. For higher currents these multifilamentary wires
and tapes quenched due to insufficient thermal stability of filaments. Both the
processing routes and deformation methods were found to be important factors
for fabricating multifilamentary MgB2 wires and tapes with high transport jc
values.Comment: 13 pages, 7 figure
Substitution induced pinning in MgB_2 superconductor doped with SiC nano-particles
By doping MgB_2 superconductor with SiC nano-particles, we have successfully
introduced pinning sites directly into the crystal lattice of MgB_2 grains
(intra-grain pinning). It became possible due to the combination of
counter-balanced Si and C co-substitution for B, leading to a large number of
intra-granular dislocations and the dispersed nano-size impurities induced by
the substitution. The magnetic field dependence of the critical current density
was significantly improved in a wide temperature range, whereas the transition
temperature in the sample MgB_2(SiC)_x having x = 0.34, the highest doping
level prepared, dropped only by 2.6 K.Comment: 4 pages, 6 figure
Artificial intelligence in recruitment: just because it´s biased, does it mean it´s bad?
In recent years, artificial intelligence technologies have seen a major diffusion. Despite the numerous benefits, some concerns arise around the possibility that artificial intelligence may inherit human bias. This paper addresses to what extent artificialintelligence bias is a blocker to the implementation of those technologies in recruitment. The research was developed focusing on gender bias and data was gathered through a survey-based questionnaire. Data shows that recruiters consider artificial intelligence an opportunity to improve the recruitment process, however, bias does represent a disincentiveto the implementation of those technologies
A gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) masquerading as an ovarian mass
BACKGROUND: Malignant gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are rare mesenchymal tumors originating in the wall of the gastrointestinal tract. Myogenic gastrointestinal stromal tumor, a distinctive morphologic variant is characterized by an unusually prominent myxoid stromal background. CASE PRESENTATION: We report a case of myxoid variant of GIST in a 42 years old woman presenting as an epigastric mass associated to an ovarian cyst and elevated CA-125. Histologically, the lesions was composed of a proliferation of spindle cells in an abundant myxoid stroma, without evidence of atypia or anaplasia. Immunohistochemical stains showed strong positive staining with muscle actin, positive staining with CD34 and weak positive staining with CD117, while showed negative for S-100. CONCLUSION: At surgery every effort should be made to identify the origin of the tumor. A complete surgical removal of the tumor should be obtained, as this is the only established treatment that offers long term survival
Asylum policies have undergone a profound change in recent years, caused by alterations in the characteristics of the migratory processes, but above all by the greater difficulty of entering Europe other than as an “asylum seeker.” This article examines the growing suspicions regarding asylum seekers’ narratives and experiences, especially when, as in the case of those from sub-Saharan Africa, their accounts speak—often in a dream-like language—of spiritual threats, mysterious deaths and acts of witchcraft, or they display ritual scars as “proof.” Against a background of narrative tactics that are fed by pre-fabricated stories that are better able to adhere to the criteria of credibility that it is supposed they should respect, the analysis suggests that the presence of these themes can be interpreted as expressing an authentic epistemological duel, or rather, a return of “culture” and “subjugated knowledge” on the human rights scene where this duel or return is unhinging the certainties of the modern state
