Resultados preliminares del manejo medico-quirúrgico y fonoaudiológico del sulcus vocalis en pacientes del Hospital Militar Central

The use of databases as a Didactic Strategy for Significant Learning in the Clinical Practice in the area of voice for the Speech Pathology students in the Central Military Hospital

El uso del banco de preguntas en Ciencias de la Salud, se encuentra poco referenciado. El banco de preguntas utilizado con los estudiantes de Fonoaudiología que hacen su práctica clínica en el Hospital Militar Central ha servido como estrategia de aprendizaje significativo en el área de voz. Este surge, de la misma necesidad de los estudiantes sobre temas de la academia que al ser puestos en práctica no se correlacionan. Este banco de preguntas es flexible y depende de cada grupo de estudiantes que rotan trimestralmente por el Hospital. Cuando se inicia la práctica Clínica del Hospital Militar Central, se les realiza evaluación inicial sobre conocimiento, habilidades y destrezas en el área de voz con resultados no esperados para las competencias que deben tener para la práctica clínica. Se realizó una revisión de la experiencia arrojada en las Universidades de La Habana, Antofagasta (Chile), y Hospital Militar para establecer la incidencia del banco de preguntas como estrategia didáctica para el aprendizaje significativo en la práctica clínica en el área de voz. Los resultados evidenciados en la construcción de mapas conceptuales por categorías, permiten establecer que los estudiantes lograron integrar las diferentes competencias en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje.The use of databases in Health Sciences and Health Areas is not well known and not commonly practiced. The database used by the Speech Pathology students who practice at the Central Military Hospital has served as a significant learning strategy in the areas of voice and speech. This database started as a need for the students to understand different topics that when applied into real life, they do not correlate. This database is accurate, user friendly and it is used by the students rotating quarterly in the Hospital. When the students start the Clinical Practice at the Central Military Hospital, they take an initial evaluation on knowledge, skills, abilities and capabilities in the area of voice and speech. This evaluation usually throws unexpected results for the level students should have to successfully practice at the Hospital. A detailed analysis was done based on the experience given by the Universities of La Habana, Antofagasta (Chile), and The Military Hospital. The main goal was to establish the influence of databases as a didactic strategy to achieve an effective and a successful learning in clinical practice in the area of voice and speech. The results are clear evidence in the construction of conceptual maps by categories, and concluding that students managed to integrate the different challenges in the teaching-learning process

The Acoustic Voice Analisis, the Voice Handicap Index and the GRABS in adult patients with voice disorders before and after surgery management for benign lesions of the vocal folds cover at the Hospital Militar Central during 2013

Durante este estudio encontramos que existe una relación positiva entre el consumo habitual de cigarrillo y alcohol, así como la presencia de reflujo gastroesofágico, abuso vocal y la voz profesional en el desarrollo de lesiones de las cuerdas vocales. Existe una correlación en los resultados obtenidos entre las pruebas subjetivas de la voz y la percepción de mejoría por parte del paciente y del examinador antes y después del manejo quirúrgico, mas no sucede lo mismo al compararlas con los resultados obtenidos al analizar las pruebas objetivas. Las pruebas subjetivas han sido y deben seguir siendo una herramienta valiosa en la evaluación de los pacientes con trastornos de la voz antes y como seguimiento después de manejo quirúrgico y/o intervención fonoterapéutica.During this study we found there is a positive relation between regular smoking and alcohol consumption, and also the presence of gastroesophageal reflux, voice abuse and professional voice in the development of benign lesions of the vocal folds. There is a correlation in the results obtained from the subjective voice analysis and the patients perception of voice improvement before and after surgery, although this does not happen when compared to results from objective voice analysis. Subjective voice analysis have been and should continue as a valuable tool in the evaluation of voice disorder patients before and during follow up after surgery management or phnonotherapy intervention
