Electronic information resource planning makes it conceivable for users to access new tools and applications for information seeking and retrieval. Electronic information resources have become helpful research tools that enhanced the print collection in the analogue library setting. Computer self-efficacy is an important component to consider in terms of the use of e-resources that are computer-based. A survey research design was adopted for the study. A multi-stage sampling procedure was used to select 370 respondents for the study. Data were collected with the use of a structured questionnaire on the Influence of Computer Self-Efficacy on the Use of Electronic Information Resources among Polytechnics Students in Ogun State, Nigeria. Frequency counts, percentages, mean, standard deviation, were used to analyse the data. The result shows that the Internet (= 1.94) YouTube (= 1.74), Search engines (= 1.72), and E-mail (= 1.70) were the major electronic information resource available. The results reveal that screen menu (=3.12), data file (=3.10), and having the confidence to enter and save data file (=3.09) were the items indicated by the respondents as their computer self-efficacy. The result shows that the surveyed students\u27 usage of electronic information resources is constrained by “Inadequate computer facilities to access information” (=3.23), ‘‘Information overload” (=3.02), “Poor internet access” (=2.87) and “Lack of assistance from library personnel” (=2.72). The study concluded that students will utilize the electronic information resources if they have the necessary computer self-efficacy. The study recommended the management of polytechnic should ensure that electronic information resources are available

The rapid development in technology has transformed all spheres of life. Information Communication Technology has revolutionaries the accessibility and use of information resources in the contemporary world. However, people who are visually impaired encounter challenges in accessing information resources and services in the libraries especially ICT and it is as a result of their customised library collections being mostly in Braille formats. Provision of ICT tools for the visually impaired has received tremendous attention all over the world. Information resources for the visually impaired are converted into formats that are usable to them; these formats include Braille, talking books/audio recordings and large prints to meet their information needs which are the manual format of information source. The study adopted a descriptive research design. Total enumeration sampling technique was used. Data were collected with the use of a structured questionnaire that was converted into Google form on ICT Tools as Provision for Information to the Visually Impaired Persons in Lagos State Special Libraries. The population of this study comprised of 104 of all the visually impaired using the two special libraries in Lagos state. Frequency counts, percentages, mean, standard deviation, were used to analyse the data. The result shows that the Assignment, Health and Scholarship are the major information needs of Visually Impaired Persons. The result also show that Speech synthesis (x = 1.92), Computers (x = 1.92) was ranked highest majorly, Internet connectivity (x = 1.81), speech-to-text engine (x = 1.75) and Retina implant (x = 1.09) were ICT tools available for the visually impaired. The result also show that lack of marketing of library services to the visually impaired, inadequate funds to acquire individual ICT tools and Lack of awareness were the major challenge encountered by Visually Impaired students. In conclusion Libraries meant for people with special needs should provide enough ICT tools to the visually impaired to meet their needs. Recommended that library should train staff on how to assist the visually impaired persons on the usage of the ICT tools available in the library. Library should make available ICT tools visually impaired students

Library resources and services are essential in postgraduate studies to conduct a successful research, demonstrate academic scholarship and gain recognition for creative thinking. However, observations and frequent requests for assistance from library personnel by postgraduate students reveal low use of library resources. Hence, this study evaluated the use of library resources and services as correlates of research activities among postgraduate students in southwest Federal Universities, Nigeria. A survey research design was adopted for the study. Multi-stage sampling procedure was used to select 378 respondents for the study. Data were collected with the use of a structured questionnaire and focus group discussion on library resources and services supporting postgraduate research, frequency of using library resources and services on research and constraints to the use of library resources and services. Frequency counts, percentages, mean, standard deviation was used to analyse the data. Results reveal that textbooks 2.96), World Wide Web 2.80) and e-books 2.76) were the major resources used by the respondents while journal 3.12), books 3.61) and e-books 3.35) were frequently used. Also, reference 2.85) and Wi-Fi services 2.75) were common library services used by the postgraduate students while Wi-Fi services 3.17), referral services 3.16) and user education 3.10) were frequently used library services. Insufficient internet access points 2.93), power outage 2.87), and obsolete books 2.85) were the major constraints’ of use of library resources. The study concluded that the use of library resources and services is crucial in postgraduate studies in order to achieve their academic objectives. The study, therefore recommended that provision and preservation of library resources should be given more attention in the universities, while library services should be improved upon for better service delivery

Research exposes students and lecturers to the availability of information resources for research. Students require quality information resources in order to conduct research. Libraries are meant to serve the students, lecturers and other members of the university community. However, libraries have been the source of keeping and disseminating information through books, journals, maps and other resources that are used by students and lecturers in the universities. The need of library resources and services is indispensable to students in order to achieve their set goals. Hence, this study evaluated the information needs and constrains that hinder use of library resources and services among postgraduate students in southwest Federal Universities, Nigeria. A survey research design was adopted for the study. Multi-stage sampling procedure was used to select 378 respondents for the study. Data were collected with the use of a structured questionnaire and focus group discussion on research information needs and constrains that hinder use of library resources and services of the respondents. Frequency counts, percentages, mean, standard deviation, were used to analyse the data. Results reveal that textbooks (=3.81), Journals articles (=3.76) and E-Books (Electronic Resources) (=3.59) were the main research information needs of postgraduate students. Also Journals 3.62), WIFI services 3.17) were the most infrequency resources and services used among postgraduate students. The findings also show that Insufficient Internet Access points (=2.93), Power outrage (=2.87) and Obsolete books (=2.85), were the major constrains that hinder the use of library resources and services among postgraduate students. The study concluded that library should provide necessary research information needs for postgraduate students and library should look into possible ways of addressing all the challenges. The study recommended that library should, put mechanism for feedback from the postgraduate students in place for the improvement on research information needs and constrains that hinder use of library resources and services
